So I really wanted to update the look of my 65 and wheels/tires are the best way to do this. I also put a new set of shocks on it since it looked like it still had the originals on it. The budget only allows so much at once so I went with some cheap AC delcos. Springs are next, then sways, etc etc. Wheel are US Mag U109. 17x8 4.5 advertised BS but measured closer to 4.75. Tires are 245/45/17 No rubbing that I've found yet. I had another thread doing research but made a new one now that they're on.
The weather was nice enough today for me to pick up my son from school in the Buick. This is the first significant drive with the new wheels/tires. It obviously handles much better and the ride is fine. Initial turn in is significantly better. I noticed no rubbing and even less road noise.
I like it!! Those wheels really set your car off. :TU: This coming from a purist who used to prefer factory 14 inch wheels.
Sweet wheel & tire combo! Just what I needed to see and read about too...as I am currently in the research mode myself! Any difference in front and/or rear clearance between the 65 Skylark 2dr Coupe and 65 Skylark GS? Did you happen to check to see if the larger one they offer would fit the rear? US Mags Bandit-U109 Wheels Size: 17" x 9" Back Spacing: 5.25" Bolt Circle: 5 on 4.75" Oh...one more thing... Website states "Finish: Black & Machined, Diamond Cut Lip" Are these clearcoated? I despise polished wheels!
Superado, mine is a Skylark made to look like a GS. I have about .5" clearance to the outside on the rear and easily and inch on the inside rear. The front is a little harder to measure but I wouldn't try any wider. Height is just a shade under 26" tall on these tires. I think these are clear coated but honestly not sure.
