Hi, this is really stupid but how do you take a driveshaft out of a car. Specifically off of the transmission. I need to take mine out and don't know how. The more detailed the instructions the better and pics are great. Thanks for any help

Kelly Eber I'd rather be racing

Jack the rear of the vehicle up and put jack stands under the rear end axle tubes on both sides. Let the full weight of the car rest on the jack stands. Where the drive shaft connects to the rear end there will be some U bolts or straps that hold the universal joint to the rear end. Take those four bolts off of the rear end. Use a large screw driver or pry bar as a lever between the universal joint and the rear end. Move the drive shaft toward the front of the car. The rear universal joint should come free from the rear end. Wrap some masking tape around the rear universal joint so that the caps don't fall off of the U joint. Lower the back half of the drive shaft slightly and the other end should slide out of the back of the transmission. Make sure you have a drain pan under the back of the transmission because fluid may come out of the back when the drive shaft is removed.

dont forget to mark the bolt on the rear end so you put thedrive line on same spot or you may get some vibration after reinstaling I would put one mark on flang and one on the drive shaft, that way it only goes the way it came out ,
