I have a 84 cutlass with a 455 olds in it right now. I just looked at a nice 455 buick for short $$. I searched but I diden't really find my answer and the motor swap link in the sticky diden't work for me. I read about people drilling holes for frame brackets but can't I just find a gbody or full size beachwagon that had a 350 or 301 buick and grab the frame brackets. My 455 olds fit on 307 brackets that came out of some 78-88 a-body with no drilling. Olds and chevy big and small blocks use the same mounts. Are big and small block buicks differant? Off topic but here are a couple pictures of my car. [/IMG]
Your car is shinier than mine. The 350 Buick motor is the swap champion for the V6 G-bodies. The hardest part would be cutting the two inches off of the fan shroud. The 455 requires you to purchase the A-body frame pads from TA or Poston. You will need to drill new holes. Guys will bolt on the motor mounts install the frame pads with the motor out. Then set it in with the tranny on and figure out where they want the motor. Then drill the holes. I suggest bolting the tranny to the crossmember in the stock location, but to each their own.
motor mounts I like to use the mounts out of the BIG Buicks (Riv.,Electra, Ect.)they are stamped steel. All I do is bolt them to the mounts on the motor, place the motor and trans in the car and mig weld them in. Done!!! Eggs, How do you get them back off ? you ask. 4" grinder. :Smarty:
i have to admit, even though i bought the aluminum ta performance mounts, i ended up doing like eggs and using the frame pads out of the 71 centurion i yanked the motor out of and welding them in. i also have a regal with a 455 olds motor, the 307 mount worked great once i moved them around a bit. it was alot easier the squeezing the buick motor with the big tube headers in let me tell you.dan
