Hey everyone, just bought my grandpas 1941 Buick super 50 as he passed this past December. I had the car transported to me and it is in great shape. However after it was delivered the transport guy backed the car out and now we can’t get the thing to start. Bought a new battery so it’s not that issue. Doesn’t crank or anything just dead silent. Missing here is the picture of the battery as was on a trickle charger. One thing that is throwing me off is the green gator clip you can see in the picture above. If you follow it in to the cab it’s connected to this. The guy who towed it tried jumping it and this was all at midnight. I THINK he might of not changed the jumper to the 6v and could have fried something?? many help would be most appreciated. Car has been in my family since 1941 as it was my great grandmothers car and passed to me now. Just want to get it started up again as it worked prior to transport thanks in advance Bacon
Green clip is connected to the starter. Is there power on the red wire that runs to the switch, where does it run from, maybe from the fuse box? Also check if there's and an inline fuse in the red or blue wire. Put direct power to the starter (use a thick jumper cable) and see if it cranks over.
Update. Got it running!! The green wire overrides the original ignition and wasn’t in the exact spot it needed to be to override it correctly. Cranked amd fired right up!!! Excited to drive this beauty around town!!!
That engine bay looks pristine for a 41; someone dotted over that car or its very low miles. Either way, that car is a family jewel that you are one lucky owner for sure! Congratulations and enjoy the ride; it will get a lot of attention on the road! BTW, my first car was a black 41 ford business coupe and your car sure brings back memories.
