I like the carb bowl bolt that wont stay tight, I dont know much but I think a 750 carb is way to small, if it were me I would want to see at least a 950 on it.

I thought the same thing Ben. 750 seemed a bit small. Still seems like a nice solid street build though.

Watching it, I thought he said 850.

3:32 of the video he says 750.

But he also states its 10.98 compression and a few minutes later says 11.98, so there very well may be a point he says 850 and I didnt catch it.

Yeah I saw that, i'm surprised it didn't fly off..
He was a little crazy though standing over the running motor with his face right in the path of a back fire..

I thought it would make a tad more HP than that

He must be using a SMALL cam. I was surprised myself

I think Nick was a little surprised too. He didn't seem to be his usual enthusiastic self as with other good dyno runs that iv'e seen.
I'm sure TA will give him some advice, but he always seems to welcome people posting on his Utube vids and maby you guys can chime in about the small carb. Why not:) I'm pretty sure he said 750 also..

Seeing stk 455 came with a bigger carb than 750 I have no clue why anyone would ever put smaller on after doing upgrades like cam and geads

Cam was not that small... had to idle at 950-1000 rpm to barely make 10" vacuum.

Two things here.. these are most likely the "out of box" TA heads, which means they about as good as a nicely ported set of irons.. a few hours spend blending goes a long way on this head. I recently did a motor that had a set of heads supplied to me, and the customer did not want to have me do the normal bowl/chamber work to them.. that motor was 15-20 numbers off what I normall see for that build.

The other thing is it's either the wrong cam grind, or not installed correctly.. for the compression, it's 20 to 30 numbers off what it should be.

The most troubling thing is that "he has his oil pressure all set now, with this spring" and now he is going to put a thicker gasket on the oil pump, to stop a leak... that thick fel pro gasket measures about .009 if I recall correctly.. and he has a .004 one in there now.. "Geeze, wonder what happened to the oil pressure"?

Did Nicks garage ever maby consult with you?
It's bugging my novice butt big time;) that your a master Buick builder and maby haven't even talked to them.. You should call him with your thoughts, especially the oiling issue.
I get some old school shop guy's are set in their ways, but Nick comes across as a nice guy.

I got my Riv with a Holley 750 on it, that came off and I replaced it with a 800cfm Qjet. I thought it should've made a bit more than it did but I'm definitely no expert just learning and soaking it all in:cool:

That’s typical though, according to the formula, we don’t need bigger carburetors. In the real world though, put a bigger carburetor on and the car goes faster at the track. Hard to argue with results. The smaller carb would have better street manners.
