Yet another person with more money than brains. Seems to be a very common problem nowadays. Bh, he's 50 which makes him gen X. Sticks were uncommon in the US for a very long time. Sad, but makes sense.
Even my 3 year old eagle RSA's on the scat pack are like ice skates with just a little throttle. Very easy to get the challenger out of shape fast
Agreed. My 1LE camaro has Goodyear F1 Supercar tires and if they are not warmed up they are like ice skates as well. May have been a factor here along with this guy being inexperienced.
at least it was a Ford...did a THX-1138 hologram start... "...it was a life-size hot wheels car for some dumb rich kid..." - Jello Biafra
Maybe somebody who is an insurance expert will hop in here, but if the car was not registered, and was being driven by it's owner on the street, I seriously doubt that his insurance policy will pay off. If they do, we should have another "you can't fix stupid" thread about them.
1. I call BS about him not having his cell phone on him. Likely he was on the phone when it happened. 2. He was likely impaired
This doesn't sound like either a distracted diver or impaired driver event. I would guess this more closely equates to the "Mustang driver at a Cars and Coffee" moment. He was excited to take his new prized possession out for for a spin to see what it would do, and unfortunately, he figured out exactly what it would do.
I am not an insurance expert, but I will offer what I have experienced. The driver stated that the car was covered by an umbrella policy, which implies that he purchased the car through his company. Companies generally carry umbrella policies that cover any accident damage not covered by the numerous other individual insurance policies the company has purchased. Unless there is a specific exclusion in that policy, then, minus the deductible, the umbrella policy might cover the monetary loss. Deductibles on those policies are usually $5K or $10K. From a quick glance at the photos, I would estimate that is about $50K in damage.
