:Do No: Hi guys, Is there a point in 60 ft times where no hop bars cause the rear tires to unload? I am finally getting low 1.5 60fts on cool tracks but as soon as the sun hits the track it spins the tires. It almost feels like it is lifting the body so hard it takes pressure off tires when it tops out. I need to find someone who can video the thing I guess to see what it is doing. It is hard for me to tell in the car what it is doing. Tom

My experience with No-Hop bars and racing here in sunny Florida is yes, they tend to become inconsistent on a hot slick track. I ran as quick as 1.52 in 60' with my car, and ran consistent 1.55-1.57. I beleive this situation is due to the extremely short Instant Center created by this set-up. They will hit the tire hard at first. They are very sensitive to weight distribution. You have to keep the nose as light as possible. I had 49% front and 51% rear with 100# of lead in the trunk. Another important part of this suspension package is rear shocks. I used the AVO Stocker Star's. These shocks have 12 adjustments - USE them. Remember, both shocks don't have to be set the same. I eventually went to the Dick Miller set-up that has two possible IC points. Use the lower hole for consistency and slick tracks and the upper hole for best E.T. and sticky tracks. Hope this helps.

Sunday morning I had a 1.52 60ft, my best by far, and by second round the sun had been on the track for a while and in the "good" lane it had a 1.648 so i was way off dial. My car is basically stock suspension with bushings and no hop bars, battery in front, stock shocks. I run with about 3/4 tank of gas for the weight back there. I also have a air bag in the right side spring. Maybe a good start would be putting a battery in the trunk. I have 29.5 -10.5 mickey thompson slicks also. It is a street strip car with 4.10 gears so I was considering trying some 3.73s gears also. Next race I want to see if I can get someone to video it once just to see what it looks like. Maybe I need to play with tire pressure also. We only get 2 time runs on race days so I can't play with things much. I guess if I want it to work I need to spend the money on some good shocks. That 1.52 was a fun ride while it lasted! :beer Tom

Yes, it sounds like your car is a little nose heavy for the IC you have. Just to clarify, the car I discussed above had a 'glass hood, Moroso springs, CE front shocks, 'glass race buckets, etc. I didn't want anyone to think I got a 49/51 weight bias by adding 100 lbs to the trunk. BTW, I added that weight to make the car more consistent. It would hook on a good track without the extra weight. I was also leaving off a transbrake. Hope this helps. Have fun.

Hi, No 11:40s ran 11:59 best, There was a big time headwind, If the wind had not been blowing so hard I think it would have been close to a high 11:40. If we would have had that much tail wind I probably would have run a 11:00:laugh: Tom

Same old place, they are redoing alot of the circle track stuff but drag strip is the same.I don't know if it was me or they changed the rollout but my reaction times were way slow compaired to the end of last year. Tom

    i think its a trend

A couple of guys were talking about that same topic. They have been getting progressivly slower over the past 2 years. Not by much, but enough.

That place is in a great location, but it just needs some money spent on it. Everybody I know won't go there anymore, they'll make the long trek down by Milwaukee.
