anybody know if there is a way to check to see if torque converter is getting oil pressure? I installed new solenoid in my 200r4 and still no lockup. any suggestions? Bernie Steffen bstef@mchsi.com

Maybe this from a 1986 GM Service Manual can keep you busy until someone else can help out. Two things they don't mention would be the o-ring on the end of the input shaft not sealing, and the torque convertor clutch inside the torque convertor can be bad.

It would probably help to know what the trans is in, and how you are controlling the lock up.

I couldn't find anything in the manual to back it up, but I thought I was told that if you are doing a (driving) pressure test, you should see a differance of about 10 PSI when TCC engages.

May be a stupid question, but are you sure the solonoid is getting voltage at the appropriate time?

    no torque converter lockup

I guess I didn't say how I was using this did I. At first I had the tcc wired through the forth gear pressure switch. When I couldn"t get the converter to lock up I wired the solenoid directly to a switch. I can hear the solenoid click when I activate the switch but no lockup. Is there any way to tell if I have a lockup converter from the outside? Any help appreciated. Bernie Steffen bstef@mchsi.com
