Ok, I bought the car, it ran. I did a tune up(plugs wires, cap, rotor, oil change, now it wont start. It has spark. It doesnt seem to get any fuel. I rebuilt the carb, and installed a new fuel pump, still no fuel. There are 2 things I can think of. 1) there is something rolling around in the gas tank when I push the rear of the car side to side. Pickup tube broke off?? 2) There was a clackity, thunk noise coming from the timing cover when i bought the car. Could the fuel pump eccentric have gone away?? Thanks for the help. Phil
Try Running a fuel line from the fuel pump to a gas can instead of to the tank. This will help isolate your problem. Will it start when you dump gas in the carb?
When I pour gas, or use starting fluid, it does want to run. It just doesnt get any fuel once it tries to start. I'll try the fuel jug trick and see what changes. Thanks.
