Hello guys, I am currently working for a company that makes DASH MATTS. A Dash matt is a absorber and a barrier between the fire wall and the carpet inside the car. We currently are making dash matts by the thousands on a weekly basis, for all the GMC trucks, Yukon, Tahoe. Right now I work in a dept that is making prototypes for future business and while working on new project, I got a idea. Well this is my idea, I am trying to see how many guys doing frame off and total restorations that would like to make there classic car, quite. By Reducing the amount of noise from the engine compartment, these parts weight about 15 pounds with pads and injected molded plastic. The new parts would have to be made from a buck ( a buck is the sheet metal from 7 inches in front of the cowl and 10 inches from the fire wall to the inside of car.) This dash matte greatly reduces that amount of noise coming from the engine compartment. So before I chop up a car to get the BUCK out of it, The labor for a parts is between 8 and 12 hours to make one. So I would like to see what you guys think of getting noise reduction put in. These parts are snap to put in with the IPs taken out. Tell me what you think
aHHH - Does the mitt go down below the carpet? Hug the transmission tunnel? How thick is it? Maybe a picture would help. - Bill -
The matt would be 2.5-3mm thick plastic with foam pads with thickness of 10-19mm. the whole matt would cover the whole fire wall, but holes for pass thourghs for wire, steering, h-vac. yes it would huge the tran tunnel maybe 6 inches from the firewall. i cant do a pic b/c of the company. i cant even bring my camera phone in the building for sake of going to the another company with are tech. my company make thousands of dash matts, there process is done with injection molding with pressing running 39 sec cycles. the time it would take me to make one is between 8 and 12 hours or so. give or take some time. tell me what you guys think. we do alot of testing of current dash matts and having this matt would reduce the engine compartment noise down. alot. i know alot of guys, myself to want to hear the motor run. the weight varies from 9 pounds to 20 pounds. The weight i am thinking would be around 12.5-14 pounds.. ask what you guys like thanks jeff
right now i am jsut trying to see how many people would be interested. 8 to 12 hours of labor plus s/h i would think 300- 400 $$ it all depends on how many people want one. thanks...asking any questions
