I remember reading in one of the threads a while back about a company that makes aftermarket Non AC Heater Boxes for our Regals. Anyone know the link?

Been eyeballing one of those myself, they appear to clean up the under the hood clutter rather well .

Still dont knw about valve cover clearance tho.

    hope it helps.

Seems to me it'd be easier & cheaper to find a non-AC box in a junk yard, :Do No: think other "G"-bodys, most elcaminos were built without A/C.

That box will still hit the engine. I cut mine back a bit and it works fine. They're really common in the wreckers, beats paying $160.

Interesting stuff. It looks like it is $160 for just the plastic firewall cover piece. I thought the non AC box cars had different venting and a shallow glove box? Sounds like I would have to do junking to get all the parts I need.

Ah good point! The glove box is indeed different. The ducting is also different. Pull the glove box tray (not the metal bit) and the duct that runs for the flooe heater and you're good to go.

This usually means ripping out the dash... that's a good hour or so depending on how cautious you are...

I went to a couple of local yards and found what I was looking for at Feezle's Auto Wrecking. I spent 2 hours acquiring a non AC heater box from what apeared to be a very well trashed and picked El Camino. I scored the 4 heater box pieces, interior venting piece, heater contols and glove box for $50. Feezle's is always kind of pricey, but they ususally have what I'm looking for. I ran out of time and was not able to grab the left and right vent levers mounted underneath the steering wheel. I'm not sure if it is a part we can use on a 87 Regal. I plan on using it on Project Turbo Blue. Anyhow I'll get some pics up once I clean the parts up. ~RR

    Hey Roaster,

I seen a Malibu at the local cruises that the guy modifed the old A/C heaterbox real nice. Soooooo, if you gonna switch to the non-A/C box, save your old A/C one for me to modify please. Thanks!

THe car I took the AC delete from had a bad rust problem on the firewall. My gasket is definitely wasted. Any idea if I can still get a gasket for it?

Floyd, I'll save my leftover for ya.

Could you make one from RTV? Or is it a paper type gasket?

Here is the stuff minus the interior venting. I still have a few holes to patch....

    Back to the junk yard

I've got to go back to the junk yard. I did not take the blower motor. I figured that it would not work since the car had been in the yard for sometime minus the hood. Here's the scoop. I don't need the blower motor, but the impellor. The AC box blower motor impellors are larger than the Non AC box blower motor impellors! You can bolt the AC impellor to the outer housing but the impellors wont fit through the inner housing. Plus the non AC boxes us a different heater core. I need a new heater core as the one at the yard was wasted.
