You may or may not know, but we've had our blue truck for sale for a little while now. Put an ad in the auto trader and another local free ad forum.
Within the last few days I had been going back and forth with a guy from an auto broker outfit he says he has a client who is interested in my type of truck so we agree on a price and send a bunch of picture's. So today I get the hook.....looks way to familiar, here's what he write's.........

    Hello Dana,

Thanks for your mail with pics and update, my client was highly impressed and delighted with the present body condition of your vehicle. Also, thanks for your patience, i have been waiting for my customer to finalize with his company as earlier stated in my previous mail, however, i'm happy to tell you that we have concluded with our client and he has instructed that we carry on with the transaction, and also inform you that payment will get to you in a cashier check of (EUR 8,545) which is a refund payment of a cancelled order earlier made by my client(which explains why you were required to provide pictures showing the various views of your vehicle so as to avoid earlier made mistakes). Due to company policy this check has to be made out in this amount to you, because company policy only allows a refund payment on one cashier check,so you are required to deduct cost of your car ($ 5,100) when payment gets to you and make a refund of the balance of($ 3,445) to my customer via western union money transfer or money gram transfer for him to be able to offset shipping charges. After payment has reached you and balance sent back to him,our agent will come for the pick up and drive to our company's shipping agent to be shipped to my customer, while title papers and other necessary documents will be sent by you via fedex courier to my customer. Please Confirm this and provide name, address and current phone number, for check payment
to be delivered to you via courier service.

Thanks and have pleasant day. Management

    Robert

I say string him along as far as you can. tell him that would be fine, but you have a refund from another guy in a different sum, so you'll need a refund on the refund he is providing. Or tell him Cash, Or He can come collect the car and give payment then. Don't give him your address or anything though.

Let me guess from Nigeria or Africa? contact athorities. string him along. Tell him you got free shipping and see if you can get his address. make him waste his time and money. If I got his address I would send him something special :Brow:

Honestly Dana, this does not surprise me. The last two vehicles I have sold through different mediums were both heading down this same path. One from Singapore, one from the Netherlands. Same MO to the tee, which I know has been discussed everywhere.

Its like the scam was posted in the con mans newsletter last month or something.

I used to get creative and jerk em around but even that has lost its "fun factor" and now I just report them to anyone in authority that will listen.

    good luck!
