Never mind Arizona maybe we should all head North. Rust does not seem to be a problem. I also thought you would have snow on the ground this time of year!.. how are the prices there?

We had a very mild winter here again this year, so not much snow. There are rusty cars in this yard, and others with no rust. In the 50's and 60's most of the roads were gravel, so salt was never used.
I inquired about prices, but can only remember that he wanted $275.00 Cdn for a good door without glass. He knows that he's sitting on one of the last stashes of old cars, and his supply is finite, so his prices reflect that.
While I was doing one of my jobs though, one of the guys was telling me about all sorts of old cars that are on various properties scattered around the area. There looks to be some pretty good stuff up there if someone has a bit of time to go hunting. I spent an hour and a half in the yard, and could have spent the whole day easily. Nothing really rare, no GS's or 442's, but lots of 50's and 60's stationwagons from Ford, GM, and Chrysler.
The name of the yard is Norsun's Hilltop Yard and the phone number is 1 780 624-4611. The guys name is Kevin, but his description of parts and condition may not be accurate to our standards.
I may make another run up there to get some stuff for one of my cars, and to check out a couple of cars on private property. If I do, I can take a closer look at stuff. I'll post first in this thread.

I found another yard, but this one is closer to Edmonton. There weren't as many Buicks, but quite a variety of older cars and trucks. There seems to be a lot of convertibles in his yard. I took a few photos, but will post them after they're developed.
    Just an update

Good info. Thanks John. I was just at Aldons in Lamont last Friday poking around. I found an intake manifold in the trunk of one Buick that I recognized as a 70' 455 casting. After dragging it about a kilometer back to the parts counter they told me $150!!! I no longer wanted it, but begged them not to make me take back out there  Those cars are picked pretty clean. would of liked to have seen it about 15 or 20 years ago.Tom

  11. Just get lost, kind of

Do you know the name of where all those buicks were in Peace River?
In a bit I'm going with a buddy(owns a local salvage yard) were going to go look at a farmers field that suposed to be full 20-30 cars from 50s up to early 70s. Hopefully if the price is right we'll be hauling next week.

Sometimes you just have to get lost, grab a map and go to roads that arnt normally taken exept by the locals, its amazing what you can find.

It's called Norsuns Hilltop Yard, about 10 km east of town on the highway.

Ok, here are the photos of the yard in Spruce Grove, Alberta. Sorry, can't remember the name, but it's right behind a new shopping center, just off
    highway 16A.
I apologise for the quality of these photos, but I was shooting into the sun with 400ASA film and couldn't get in because it was Sunday. You'll notice an old junkyard dog in one of the photos too. He had quite a limp, but I'm sure it was a ploy for me to 'come a little bit closer' .
There are a lot of convertibles in this yard, and most of these cars are not crashed, but will require lots of work to get them going again.
Just doing my part to unite old cars with loving new owners. :beer

I believe you'll find the Spruce Grove cars are not for sale. The last time I enquired the cars were for the owners' own restoration business.

  15. so......thats why no one can find anything out in the country anymore. I'm always looking everytime I'm on the hyway, for any old jems in the rough. Seems like yesterday(20 years) I'd see all sorts of good shell, complete big block cars. If only I had a unlimited budget, with alot....alot of property.

Good pics, even if shows what we cant have. and ya that dog was just seeing how close you could get before you could run fast enough

Hi to 58buickspecial from another Saskachewanian. I live only about 60mi out of S'toon. Do you know of any good local junk yards that may have parts for my 72 Skylark? Also any local people that are knowledgable about Buicks. Thanks Mark, from another Marc

PS. I puchased my nearly complete (no front seat) 72 Skylark 2dr Ht 350-4bll for $450 cnd. For that price I got 2 trannys, a TH350 & a TH200-r4 thats in the car as well as a car with minimal rust. It still needs ALOT of work but is a good starting point.
