Doesn't look like the rear defrost on my 68. The part # 981461 also does not match the #'s in my 68 parts book, for any Buick 68 model.
Dwayne, my comments weren't meant to reflect on you in any way at all. Just pointing out that it does not appear to be a 68 item. I see the box in his pic has 69 written on it. Maybe it is correct for a 69 car. I have no idea. My grille is not even close to the shape of this one.
David, I knew you weren't speaking to me directly:TU:, I just meant that I couldn't offer any help as to if this is a correct set-up. Could it be for a convertible?
Wouldn't be for a convertible, no package tray to mount it in. I am guessing that is one option you couldn't get with a convertible. Maybe it is what the dealer put in if you wanted an "aftermarket" defrost because you didn't factory order one. Might have been different than the factory one. That's kinda the way the ad reads. You would think the seller would know what he was talking about, since it is "The Buick Farm" and he has sold thousands of NOS parts. If Scott's after it, makes you think it would work in a 70's car.o No:
Sorry David, I think that this is a 1970 45-46-48000 Series car, (LeSabre, Wildcat, Electra) so this part would not be "correct". So if anyone's restoring one of those.. especially a 70, how many NOS of these have you seen? :Brow:
That rear defroster set-up is correct for some 69 and early 70 GM cars. I have seen them in 69, & early 70 A-body buicks and in 70 Camaro's, just put one back in a friend of mine's 70-1/2 Z28. The convertible units are completely different, they mount under the rear seat and the duct comes up in the well liner. My 70 442 conv. has one. Duane
