Fond one on eBay, and when I won and asked the seller (nice guy), he said he had the other side for the same price I had bid.
I paid $50 each. There were very few bidders. May be it is expensive, but I had been looking for this for 2 years !

2 years ago, I had rechromed the bezels first, but it started to peel out a few months later. The chrome plater had advised that chroming on old "alpac" cast would not last and that it was at my risk.

    Hey Jean-Luc!

Those look great! I just bought the chrome bezels only from the same guy on eBay, and aiming to put them over the tail lights on my newly-found LeSabre sedan, to kind of make a "LeCenturion".

Question for you: do you think the underlying tail lights you have there are the same as a LeSabre tail light? How do the chrome bezels fasten on? Do you think I'll be able to do it?

BTW, didn't have any luck finding the Paris guy w/ the black Centurion.

    Thanks in advance,
    Steve.

    Do you suppose....

You could unfasten a chrome bezel from one of those units and post a picture of it here, sans bezel?

    Thanks again in advance,
    Steve.

Steve, I'll post a pic but I can cfm that the light lens underneath the bezel is all
flat and I fear you cannot put them on a LeSabre one since I believe these lens include raised plastic stripes to simulate chrome bezels. But that is my perception from the pics I have seen on the web.
Ant case, you need a FLAT lens to be able to put the bezel around (metallic bezel wraps all the lens on the sides). The bezel bolts on the light body with 8 small bolts, while the light to car body bolts with 6 big ones.

I am afraidyou may have to but Centurion 71 specific lights. Even if not in perfect condition, the bezels will hide most of their area. after they went though the dish washer I had polished my old ones, and with the bezel on, they looked as new.

PS. Last week, I have got the phone of the Centurion owner in Paris. I PM you his phone number.

Awesome~!!! They are worth the $50 a piece.

Steve - I'm pretty sure I have a picture of when my taillights were apart:::

Yep, I got it! It's not the clearest picture, but you get the idea. The LeSabre taillight has the trim cast into the lens. The Centurion lens does not.

I just took the rear lights apart on the Riviera and gave them a good cleaning. One lens was cracked and luckily I found a replacement at a local yard. I also did an old school trick to get them to shine brighter. I put aluminum foil inside the compartment where the bulbs are and they shine much brighter now. I was a little bit wary of doing this since I spray glued the foil which I first formed in the bulb compartment, but it turned out real good; and I'll probably do it on the Centurion too. It will be hard to get a picture of it, but I'll go out and give it a try.

I have done similar rstauration, but using an aluminium large adhesive tape (those used to wrap leaking mufflers). The advantage is that the glue coat is absolutely even, and once sticked, you just have to smooth it with your nails to get a shiny surface.

If you are prepared to spend more, you also can use those adhesive sheets of "chrome" used for modelling.

    Killer deal

Considering I paid $300 for a set of NOS 71 Riviera taillights last year, I'd say you got a killer deal. :TU:

I've been scratching my head over that piece since the auction started. I really don't think it has anything to do with the trunklid molding, since the mounting flange on the trunklid molding is very wide. This piece looks to be about half the width of the trunk molding.

But I don't know where else it would go.:Do No:

EDIT: I just found it on my crash sheet: it is labeled as an "Ornament Bar", but is not illustrated on the sheet!! It is listed as a part, though. Part of the taillight assembly on a 1972 LeSabre only. It is not listed for Centurion.

    Correct on both items, Jean-Luc.

I was up late last night due to a friend coming back into town from California. We're playing in an alumni jazz band tonight for my high school, so I'll be up even later tonight:grin:

    Hey Guys!

Jean-Luc and Adam: That "bar" is the center horizontal molding that goes in the middle, lengthwise, separating top half from bottom half of a '72 tail light.

I just bought '71 bezels from Len (Hotrodparts33), who is a heckuva nice guy, have dealt with him before. Working with him toward the '71 flat lenses too.

Steve, if you miss the flat lenses with Len (nice guy indeed), I can give you my old ones (need to know shipping cost, but only the red lens should be much cheaper han the whole stuff).
They are quite OK with no crack at all, but one is a bit deformed because of the heat, but once the bezel is on, you do not see it.
