Where do you look for New Old Stock parts. I am currently looking for rear control arms for a 1967 Buick Riviera GS and a transmission filter, I have been told it is the early type and they are hard to find. I have a couple threads running concerning these parts, I was just wondering if maybe someone could give me some leads here.
There is a strong riviera club . I would google search riviera and get with those guys . On another note a friends Speed Shop has a beautiful burgandy in and out 67 that he just did a engine rebuild for the original owner . Man that interior is unbelieveable . Just like new . For a filter I would find an older trans shop and see what they have I have found many older stuff that way John
Here's the Riviera Owners Club web site - www.rivowners.org and check out the ROA section on the AACA website at: http://forums.aaca.org/postlist.php?Cat=0&Board=riviera NOS parts are getting harder and harder to find - they are out there, but yah gotta keep beating the bushes, and turning over the rocks, . . . and deep pockets will help too ! :TU:
buickfarm.com has your filter 4.197 5579822R 1964-1966; ALL,1967;FIRST TYPE, FILTER; 400TH TRANS. (REPRO) 2 $26.00 each
Parts America also carries it too. :TU: http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductList.aspx?parttype=1158&ptset=A&searchfor=Transmission+Filter+Kit Not NOS, but with a tranny filter who cares. Man, those are some bent control arms! If you ever have a shop put your Riv up on a hoist, be sure to make them aware of were the frame is on a Riviera. I learned this the hard way with my '66 at a Goodyear store when getting tires. They were about to lift the car by the body because they assumed it had a perimeter frame. They would have if I hadn't ran over to the car and made them look at what he was doing.
from the looks of this page from the buick master parts book ... your arm might be the same arm that many skylarks have.... and is the same arm as a 67-70 riv.... a riv is a 9000 series
You should be able to get the filter at Napa or a AC may be still in the book. I have AC one I will look on the box for the number, and run it. Thanks Bill.
Not to sound ignorant, but where do you guys get all the part #'s from. I am kind of new to this looking for old parts thing.
There are a number of guys on this board who have factory service manuals, parts manuals, and cross reference manuals.:TU:
