Not sure if this made me feel a whole lot better, but hey, I guess ANY POSITIVE NEWS IS GREAT NEWS... My wife and I recently had our third and FINAL boy tested for Muscular Dystrophy. Oh yeah, the first two.. Jeffery-11 (who's had it for a long time now and is already in a wheelchair) and Christopher-20 months (tested positive about two months ago or so... ABSOLUTELY BROKE MY HEART! :ball: I honestly [wanted to] believed that Christopher was safe! I've NEVER been SO DEVASTATED!)

The blood test (testing for the missing gene, which leads to Muscular Dystrophy) came back NEGATIVE for baby Jack(10 months)! :puzzled:  He does NOT have MD! :TU:

Regardless, when I received the news, I did NOT know how to feel 'extremely' happy... still have the other two boys that DO have it! :(

PLEASE!! SUPPORT STEM CELL RESEARCH!! THIS IS THE ONLY WAY FOR A CURE TO BE FOUND!! I do NOT want to turn this thread political, but Pres. Bush DOES NOT SUPPORT ANY KIND OF STEM CELL RESEARCH, WHATSOEVER! F'n DH!! :af: :blast: :moonu: DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT ATTACKING ME FOR MY PERSONAL THOUGHTS, BUSH SUPPORTERS!! :af: :Smarty: I WON'T HEAR IT!

If you are the praying kind, please mention Jeffery Jr. and Christopher in your prayers, as well as thanking God for it somehow skipping Jack! Thank You.

PS If anyone can swing me a REALLY GOOD deal on a FULL-size van, preferably with electric lift for wheelchairs... please let me know! :Do No: :Do No:

    Jeff,

That's great news about Jack. I can only imagine how hard it must be. I hadn't really thought too much about stem cell research but you've really put it in a personal context. I'm definately with you!

I agree with Mike, until someone actually tells you about their dealings with a problem, it seems so far away. I'm sorry to hear about your two sons, good luck in the future. And I'm glad to hear about a third addition to the family.

Thats sad...in my opinion(please, lets not turn this into a political thread, i intend this 2 be an opinon...thanks) pres. bush needs to support things like that...or get out. Of course kerry isnt better.(like i said, this is only my opinion, maybe kerry is better, it isnt a proven fact but please dont make this a big political mess).

Some day, some time, a cure will be found. They just finished mapping the human genome and that's one step closer to curing ALOT of diseases!

  6. i'll pray they get it going as well. my son became sick and almost died from a virus. he came out of it with diabetes. stem cell is a way out for alot of dieses. they need to do this.
thank god for what you have and not what you think you should have. the boys are a god sent and god will only give you what you can handle.
you and your wife must be strong soportive people because god gave you more than most.
    bless you and your family.

    Great news Jeff:TU:

100% correct on the research, we must move forward with funding in this area.

I have a bud who runs a Chrysler shop that sells conversions for handicap needs.
I'll see if he's got anything that might fit your needs.

    Again great news

    take care,

I have a good friend that has a boy(Little Monte) who has MS and is also autistic. They have kept their wheelchaired son in their home and even installed an elevator so they can take him upstairs.I have the most respect for them doing this,as it could be just as easy to put him in an institution.Yes, they have struggled....but they have managed to get through this very well and made a great child into a young man now.I always tell them this whenever they see me.It takes a special parent to care for a special child.I agree that this should not become a political thread and I will stand behind you by letting people know that this is not anything political except for the funding.I wonder what could be done if our government put a real push on to help finding cures for things that touch all of us.I think it is wonderful that you love your kids and and know that you will be there for all of them.It must be bittersweet news that your youngest son doesn't seem to be in the same condition as your other kids. But,love them all the same.
I will say a prayer for all of you and your family.Hopefully, they will decide to do some more research and find a cure.

    Jeff,

If you don't want this to turn political, why did you mention Pres Bush? I'm thrilled your youngest doesn't have MD. Thats great news!!!! But Ex-Pres Clinton, and Candidate Kerry would happily have those children that were at risk, murdered before they were ever born. Matter-of-fact, Clinton gave money to foreign countrys specifically for abortion/murder. I don't know what to think of Stem Cell research. Growing human lives for parts is wrong. But I also don't have sick kids, so I won't act like I know how it feels from your angle. You want prayers for your Kids? You got it!! Thank you for valuing human life and choosing to have these children. Sick or not, they are all precious in the eyes of our creator and are born for a reason.

I'm pretty sure that there is a way to get the cells needed to do the stuff without killing/murdering babies, but they are still working on it.

THANKS Pat! And the rest of you guys also! :TU:

Dan, while I think its very likely that we have quite similar beliefs and value systems, I WILL NOT EVER support ANYONE that is SO rock-headed about stem cell research that they not only REFUSE to look into more, AND has NEVER personally or professionally, shown ANY support or FUNDING FOR ANY TYPE OF CURE OR TREATMENT!

Besides GW's dumba$$, WHO said stem cell research has ANYTHING to do with abortion or killing babies?? :Dou:

Its a life issue. The current Pres does NOT support baby murder, or growing babies for spare parts (stem cell). You yourself have chose life! But again I say, I'm not in your shoes. I continue to hope and pray for your sick kids, and rejoice in your youngest's health!!!!

Amen brother. The Left is so ready to tell you that we should be preserving life and at the same time tell you every woman has the right (to "health care" mind you) have their babies partially delivered out of the womb, and then to allow a Dr to ram a pair of scissors in it's head, suck out it's brains and to then pull it t rest of the way out. Oh, yeah, Bush is the heartless one.
Ask all of our liberal friends what they paln to do to stop the peddling of baby body parts of aborted babies that occurs everday in this country. This was discussed on the
House floor but guess who refused to stop it?
The Godless baby killers on the left who by the way, tell us they share the "values" of everyday Americans.
