Because of the events that have unfolded on www.realoldspower.com, it has changed my direction in which I was intending to take this. Because of the truce that you have suggested, Joel, "GTX Joel" (67442convert on realoldspower.com) Well Said, Jim! What is history is over.
That is what most people really want, just let it pass, go racing, have fun. But all parties involved will have to let it pass. If one party violates a cease fire, war breaks out. I have decided to offer up this peace offering from N.S.C.A. Factory Appearing to F.A.S.T. as follows, and in closing I would like to thank Jim Goode, F.A.S.T. participant and Richard E Wigginton (70w30), for making this possible. Thank you, both. The alternative would have been a lose, lose for both sides.

    -------------------------------------------

    Joel,

In the past, I held you in high esteem. Are you sincere now?
Do you really want to get this resolved?
Do you really want to just let it pass, go racing, have fun?
Do you really feel all parties will let it pass?
No pending, potentially, far-reaching legal issues? No more name calling, fighting, endless defending, punch, counter punch, misleading, endless scoring of points, etc., etc.?

I agree to some degree. I have really felt that I have had to defend myself and my family so much in the past year, that it has been hard to not be sucked in. When things were said about what I thought were all of our friend (Gary Davis), that really made me mad and really hurt as well, especially after his tragic death.

It has been brutal! I know of a lot of things that may happen in the future that can and most likely escalate things even further. I originally felt compelled to admit and submit some truths, videos, pictures, and other witnessed accounts about others cars that will not end up keeping those involved in the best possible light to the rest of the public world, all just to defend myself and family, and to point out that I have not been the only one not 100% as correctly portrayed. Because of your semi peace offering I have changed my mind. It has reached the point of no one wins, we are all losing! Fans, sponsors, current and future racers and more importantly, families have been affected.

If you are really telling the truth and you (and I hope some of your partners) are really sincere in not continuing this war of words, I have a couple suggestions that will at least begin to help get this resolved.

    Idea # 1:
How about we all publicly, on a few popular websites that we agree on, apologize. I am talking about a simple, non-detailed, no hidden between the lines cheap shots, painless, public apology. No more trying to score points and sway public opinion or gain further public votes.

    Idea # 2:
You guys allow the banned, Hemi Road Runner to compete in all your events (as long as your Tech. man Bobby, deems it legal). You can let your ruling against me stand! I will not drive. I think I am being fair in asking that the car not be banned, as long as it's legal. And, as much as it pains us, no more "tribute" to Gary Davis on the car.

    Idea # 3:
From this point on, If I have reason to question anything, you guys will devise a way to have a protest heard to Bobby (unless the subject were felt needed to be discussed amongst all involved racers), or whomever you may deem an "Official" Tech. person in the future so that things are resolved in the best interests of all, in a timely fashion and therefore no public displays or vents.

Just so you know, Pennington had called me awhile back and said pretty much the same thing as I have written here.

What do you say, Joel? Can we both agree to call off the dogs for the sake of fans, future and current racers and sponsors alike?

What do you say, Joel? We can all rest and get back to fun and racing for both organizations!

    What say you?

    In the interest of all,
    Jack Irons, Sr.

So your saying you have some dirt on me and you want to
blackmail me into cooperating with you? And so because of
that I should make concessions to you?

I want nothing to do with you, your family, your freinds,
your cars. The damage is irreperable. You go your way and
I'll go mine. I won't blame you, you don't blame me. You lay
off of me and F.A.S.T., I'll lay off of you. You stick to NMCA.
    I'll stick to F.A.S.T.

    Fair enough?

    Let's just race.

I agree, Keith. I will run FAST, Pure Stock, and will run the Factory Appearing NSCA. Winters are just too long up here. Really hoping the last one works out as I have a 3rd car here that will never be a Pure Stock or FAST car and really want to have some fun with it. Even if I only run the first 3 races on double secret probation (non stock paint job, wheels, headers, 3 inch exhaust), I'm hoping I'll have enough fun with it to maybe make the necessary changes mechanically. Paint job will stay the way it is. If it isn't acceptable. it'll stay home.

Hey Dave as long as it ins't pok-a-dotted I think it will it fly with us (I am doing tech and I really don't care that much about the paint)

    No, not polka dotted

Not quite legal for Pure Stock or FAST. Also has different year (67)400 engine, headers with 3 inch exh, and aftermarket wheels.

Now that there's somewhere to race it, gives me new motivation to get it done. :beer

Wow, maybe we should reconsider the paint rule. We were following Pure Stock and FAST's lead on the paint. I can understand thier veiw, but maybe this is keeping more car owners on the side lines than anticipated. Hmmm! I would hate to see a car like yours not partake because of something like this. Wow :eek2: Dave, that is an awesome looking paint scheme!!! What's it going to run? What's the build up?

Sorry to hijack, but it's painfully obvious this thread isn't going anywhere anyway.

Hey, Dave, I signed the contract today on the race I'm putting on. It's going to be held on October 16th.

How about you Jack, are you up to a drive to Oklahoma? If you promise to show, I'll bring two cars to one of the NSCA Events to race.

Check out the MuscleCar Grudge Match !!! :bglasses:

Actually October is wide open at this point except maybe NSCA Columbus (?) until the Gonzo race in November. Always wanted to come down your way and listen to Roy D. Mercer.

Car should be a solid mid-low 12 second car. Engine was on loan to a local racer here (Chris Hemminger) and he ran 11.60's all day in his 71 Cutlass. It was built by Jim Clay (NSS/D 67 442). Other than some porting in the C heads, could almost certify in Pure Stock. Has hardblok in the lower end, so probably not a good street motor.

Paintjob is awesome. Few guys I knew back "in the days" had their 68 and 69's painted up like this with the original color and the 68 Hurst treatment. Always really liked it. Same guy that painted this one is just finishing up my 66 triple black 442. Looks like a new bowling ball. Just setting up his own shop in Farmington, MI. Currently bodyman at Joe Panian Chevy dealer in Southfield, Mi. and works out of his garage out back.

Can you believe this red car started out as a bare body shell and detached frame on ebay? Was a real W30 car with a clear title. Absolutely rust free and straight.

First things first, I need to figure out if I'm mad or not about you having your own race. But in the meantime, can I get excited? Wow, this is great, another place to race and someone wants me there. Wait a minute, you're not playing a mean joke on me, are you? You know I can be very sensitive to things like this. Jack, Sr. You know, the crazy one.

Go for it, Wayne. Sort out the issues later, can't please everybody. Barring major breakage during September, I'll plan to be there. :beer :TU:

I gotta tell ya, I absolutely LOVE your car. I saw it run at the Mopar Nat's last year. I've been trying to put on this race for about 6 months and I'm just now getting a date set and a contract signed. :Dou: I understand and respect what the FAST guys are doing, but it's hard for me to comprehend turning away cars like yours and Mighty Mouses (or even cars like my Dart, for that matter). The races are expensive to put on and the only way to pay for them is to get the car count up (or get a big sponsor :Brow: ). That's why I came up with the "Stock Appearing Incentive Plan," to have a place and to give some initiative for the exhaust manifold guys to race.

Dave, I'm pumped about your car showing up. There's a local guy around here that's got a '70 W31 that's orange with white stripes, and I think it's a 4 speed. I'm going to hit him up about bringing it out. His name is Monty Burchett (I'm not sure that's spelled right). Have you heard of him? I had heard that he was in, or was the President of the Oldsmobile club at one time. My friend John Murray (A.K.A. Dr. Olds) has already promised that he bring out Ol' Yeller.

Haven't heard of Monty, been away from OCA for quite a few years. Say Hi to John for me. Haven't seen him in a while. Love to see his car, sure heard a lot about it. Love those Rallye Red (actually orange looking) 70's. :TU:
