Am I correct in thinking this is a neutral safety switch issue? It appears these trucks have the switch mounted on the transmission, which looks really weird to me. I don't see anything on the column.

If I am not mistaken Fords had the switch on the side of the trans . 2 small 3/8 head screws. It is slotted to allow some adjustment.

The switch itself looks like a pressure sensor that just screws into the side of the transmission case.:Do No:

Sounds like a Chrysler switch. Very common back in the day. My Scout had a Chrysler trans in it. Adam is it a 3 pung switch?

Yeah John. That does sound like the Mopar switch. It should have a ball on the end that threads into the trans.
