My parents still use a 1985 Pontiac Perissienne that belonged to my late Grandfather. They had it tuned up recently at a GM dealer and as I drove it yesyterday I noticed the idle to be unusually high. I checked for the obvious stuff...cable binding, vacuum leaks etc. but all checked out. Then I decided I would try to adjust down the idle and discovered the screw was already turned out to max and in fact didn't even contact the throttle. Could this be a timing adjustment? I asked my parents if they ever have run-on when they shut off the car and the indicated that one in a while they do. I wouldn't think dealer would give the car to them like this?!? Thanks, Dan
Howdy is the choke linkage releasing? some used an anti dieseling solinoid on the carb if it sticks it will have a fast idle Mark Sheppard
Thanks for replying Mark, didn't think anyone would. I will check that. As I remember the choke plate was open because I checked for vacuum leaks by covering air horn with my hand. Does the anti deiseling solenoid act independantly of the choke plate? Dan
