The day went very well. The spectators and fellow racers seem to enjoy watching the class run. We had a total of Eight Cars in the class.

The scary part of the day was when John Gavin's 340 Dart blew the By-Pass hose and water down the track. The track officials did not think he had watered down the lane so they sent Tom Cannon and I down. Once Tom power shifted the Challenger into third gear the car broke loose and spun out into the other lane. Thank God Tom wheeled the car so well. Tom's Challenger suffured minor but saddenning damage. Tom was OK and was ready to go another round.

We recruited two A12 cars (440+6RR) Ed and Scott to the class. They both won their match races and then paired up in a race off. They both turned their best times ever, Ed 13.09 and Scott 13.23. They had a great time.

One of the other highlights of the event was we finally got to see John Wenetta Race his famed 1969 Dart GTS 383 he turned his best time ever 14.27.

John Gavin with the 1968 Dart GTS 340 was working out his newest combo to get ready for November 12th Race.

The only regret I had was not pushing the brand X'ser to come out. The drag strip had brand X cars TnT'ing so it would not have made a difference. (we will note this for next year)

Tell me more about that 340 Dart's setup and the incremental times. I've only run faster than that a handful of times. 13.52 is getting with the program :3gears:

Hi Brian John has a 400 plus inch small block, 727 and 3.55 in the Dart. This was his first time out with this combo. The car should go mid to low 12's once the bugs are all worked out. Look for the car in E-town on Nov 12th. What is your combo?

    Ralph,

Matching numbers 340/727 with true 10:1 340 +.040, cleaned up heads, Ccd; block decked & aligned honed, cast iron exhaust and intake with thermoquad. It idles at 950Rpm w/11.5 of vacuum in gear. Column shift, factory A/C (Im in Texas!) 3.55s with 205/70-14s all around. Ive had it together since the fall of 1999. Last season (November April, Texas again) I made 42 passes with most runs in the middle 13.50s with a best of 13.44 and a 2.007 short time at 102Mph in change.

Racing season starts for me at the Lone Star Shootout October 15th. Assuming the temperatures dip below the 90s!

Brian puts some F70 polyglass tires on that bad boy and watch your 60ft improve! No joking they hook better than any radial will ever. Take my word on this.
