So as a surprise for a good friend of mine, Im finnally putting the Buick 455 that I had built for him, into his 58 Chevy Biscayne. Im using an Offy 360 intake that I had laying around here. My question is, can I use the factory intake bolts with the offy intake or do I need to use ARP bolts like you have to do with an SP1. Thanks, Tony
I used stk bolts on ours when we ran it. I always after the first few times of running went back over and retorqued. I like that intake paint it red and it looks stk since it's not a tall single plane
Poke the bolts through the holes in the manifold and gaskets, see how much thread engagement into the head you'll have. Make sure you have HARDENED flat washers if the bolt heads aren't flanged. You'll score the aluminum otherwise. There was a time I elected to NOT use stock bolts; I figured the average thief wouldn't have Allen wrenches, so I used socket-head cap screws. Then I started chaining the hood shut.
That Offenhauser is a cool intake manifold I use stock bolts on all of my intakes I had a huge pile of bolts that I accumulated over the years
Thanks for the replies guys. I'm gonna try the stock bolts and see how they look. This project is turning out to be interesting. All the Chevy guys are already hating on the car because I'm putting a 455 in it instead of your typical "cookie cutter" small block swap. Lol
This is my barn find: I would like to add a dual carb EFI system. Has this been done be for, successfully on 430 block
