    Makes sense.

What's the NAPA part number again?

I believe the Numbers are as follows:

    NAPA 21258

    Wix 51258

Wix by far. From what I have been told, that Wix is the only filter that the auto manufactures do not question in warranty situations.

Don't know if it gospel or not.

Where can you buy the PF-24 decal? There was someone on the board selling Wix filters with the decal but I don’t believe they’re doing so any more.

The Buchev gets Wix, Everything else gets anything but Fram.

I generally always run OEM parts on all my stuff. I know that historically the NAPA/Wix stuff has a good reputation. However, I was at my local Kubota dealer a couple years ago buying oil and a filter for my tractor. The parts manager took me to the shop where they had a mower with the same engine as mine (D722) torn apart. He said it was the 3rd one they had come in with the engine seized up. All 3 were different customers but they were all the same engine with the exact same Wix filter. Take it for what it’s worth. It’s probably a design flaw isolated to that particular filter on that particular engine but none the less...

So all you backed up what I thought I knew on wix and Napa and a few other good suggestions tossed in.
And this is a curious side question on Napa filters
So the Gold is a wix but who makes their platinum?

I would assume Wix but you know what happens when you assume.
I was already gone by the time Platinum started. You would think it was better than Gold but ??

    BUQUICK I'm your huckleberry.

Here is a tear-down comparison of 5 popular oil filter brands and the guy was horrified by the quality of one brand. Guess which one...FRAM. It's a long video but skip to the 2:42 point of the video to see the low quality Fram.

He compares the cheapest Fram to NAPA Gold and Wix. Fram has better filters in their lineup such as ToughGuard.
I've never had an issue with one....cut a few apart after using them....nothing coming apart

I miss the white WIX filters. Used a black Sharpie marker to write that date/milage of the oil change on the filter. Black Sharpie marker on a black WIX filter is hard to read.

If available I usually go with the lower cost store brand if it has the same last 3-4 numbers as the WIX filter. Then I know it was made by WIX and probably the same filter in a different color.

Willing to go with another brand (Hastings, AC, Motorcraft) if nothing else is available except FRAM (the orange can of death) unless it is the drop in cartridge type used in my 2 oldest cars.

Has anyone used the Hastings filter? While I've never read much about them, they look like a quality filter to me. I remember using them on my first Buick way back when, and they had an excellent reputation back then, not that it means anything now.

They are amazingly Made in the U.S.A.

Looks like they make Purolator filters as well:)

At this price, why bother with anything but Wix (or Delco)?

I don’t know much about Hastings. Not knocking them, just don’t know them.
