That is totally correct IF you are using R-12 refrigerant in your 68. (If you are, :TU:)
If you are using R134a, you need to use 11 oz. of BVA 100 Polyol Ester, after proper system prep for the conversion.

I did get the oil for the 134 conversion as the guys at NAPA steered me in that direction. By the way, is there anything you would suggest that should be done to improve the performance of the conversion? Any differnt parts etc.:Do No:
    Thanks

No different parts. Adjust the POA valve for R134a, There is a 7/32" screw inside the outlet port on the POA valve. You need th turn it 1/2 turn CCW. This will bring the evaporator pressure down to the ideal range for R134a.

and make sure the fan clutch is good. If it's the original, replace it with a new AC-Delco unit. The ones from the parts stores don't move enough air for a converted R12 system at idle.

Yup. www.autoacforum.com is IMHO the best MVAC site on the Internet.
I do MVAC on a professional basis and never fail to learn something from those guys. I always recommend it to anyone doing AC work DIY. There is a TON of valid, useful info there for Pros and DIYers alike. The sponsor, Arizona Mobile Air, is one of my preferred suppliers.

According to GM, the POA valve is not adjustable. That adjustment has been known to a few folks over the years, likely old GM techs. I just learned about it maybe 4 years ago (on the Forum). It can make all the difference between a "good" performing conversion and a "great" one. Read about the particulars if you are curious.

If you have problems with the A6 shaft seal slinging oil or leaking, read the posts about the "double lip seal" retrofit. It's another good mod for these old systems. I should have mentioned that one earlier but it slipped my mind.

Best of luck with your AC.
