If the engine is out of the car, Use permatex #2 gasket sealer on the block, just a thin coat is needed, put the gasket on, leave the pan side of the gasket dry, bolt the pan on and let it sit, preferably overnite. The next day, remove the pan, use the same sealer on the pan side of the gasket, then install the pan. This should give you a leak free installation. Need to make sure your pan rails are straight also. Jim Burek P.A.E. ENTERPRISES
Charlie - While the pan is off, take a couple of hammers and make sure the pan is flat in the bolt hole areas. Hold one on the bottom side, while tapping the bolt hole area(block side of the pan). I've seen alot of guys cure their leaking problems by doing that. Same goes for stamped steel valve covers!
Jim, Are you talking about the skinny tube with "2A" on the tube? Is it the non-hardening sealant? What do you use on the timing cover? Thanks! Tom Jenkins
