Oiling problem in one rocker arm

I just replaced the head gaskets and got the motor buttoned back up, except for the drivers side valve cover (the side I replaced the gasket in). I also had to replace a pushrod in the #1 cylinder and a rocker arm on the #5 cylinder. The new pushrod seems to be going okay, but there is no oil coming up through the pushrod on the #5 cylinder.

It seems to be operating okay, just no oil from this one. Anybody know what could be making this happen? I checked the interior, under the valley pan, to make sure that there was no debris, and to make sure that the rod was seated properly.

Is this a hollow pushrod? I think it is. Take it out and blow air through it. If it was a bad lifter it would be sounding nearly like a rod knock. Blow air through it, that'll fix it up.

Does the push rod move up and down with the motor running. If not cam shot.

Yes, the rod moved, cam is brand new and looks it. :)

I didn't think to blow through it. I've been so worried about getting it back together right, I overlooked the easiest thing. I can't see the forest for the trees. :)

    Thanks guys!!

I had a Furd once that was not pumping any oil at all up the push rods........enough to make a couple rockers squeek! The lifters all functioned normally, the problem was the lifter seats were worn and not allowing oil to flow through them. There is a very small oil groove on the bottom of the seats............perhaps yours are the same, I would check them. :bglasses:
