I see some guys concerned about the new header setup on each individual post.. and I can understand the concern. That is something that will take a bunch of work in the template to reconfigure the board, so it's gonna be a while.. we gotta let Mike go back to his real job for a while.

    But..

That's not the real issue with scrolling... Look at the signature lengths that a lot of us have... some of them are half a page..

Take note of my sig.. short, sweet, and to the point. Done intentionally to not hog up too much room.

I am not saying anyone has to change anything, but just to focus on the real issue when it comes to having to scroll alot.

Well I am! Some users have a signature longer than most posts on this board. It'd be a nice jesture if we could limit it to just a few lines.

Some people would consider it stepping on their toes, but I think that is a good ideal. Some users have 15 full lines or more at the bottom of each post. Even adds for sale items there. That is not right.

    David G de-modded....

I know of one user with probably 25-30 lines of text in his sig... :Dou: don't see him around much anymore though.

Well, I got to thinking about my own sig. So, I changed it. Combined all the info. onto one line. Helped the schroll issue a little.

Another trick to "shrink" your sig, is to make the text the smallest size you can. Check out mine. It's a size "1" , in the default font (Veranda)...

That should help out a lot. I like the look of it too.

David's and Yardley's signature is about the right length.. anything longer than that gets to be a bit much..

John, you can take another line or two.. nothing wrong with your original deal..

Good idea on the size Adam.

    Help us out here guys..

Ya, the sigs get a bit wordy. I finally removed my HTML code (its been shut off for a while, but I was lazy).

The headers take up about 1/4 of my screen (17" screen @ 1280 x 1024, default font-size), but some of those signatures took more than half!

Smartin, I like the size idea - aside from saving space, it sets the signature off from the rest. Nice asthetically.

Hey, its nice to be back, though, and the board is looking good.

You can also go into your User CP and turn off your viewing of sigs and avatars if they bother you.

Wow.. that I did not know.. tried it... nice..

it's in the body of the "edit profile" text.

You can turn off your viewing of the avatars, the signatures, and attachments, all individually. Pretty slick. Board tightens up a lot if you turn off the avatars and sigs.

    Jim,
I never really thought of it...I'm cleaning mine up a bit now. I like Adam's idea of smaller print too
