Wanted to let you all know of a junkyard in Central GA that has a good bit of Buicks in it. Cars will be crushed soon due to pressure from the EPA so gotta get them while you can. Cars are $100 each with a $20 fee to the forklift guy to load up. Good deals, huh? Engines are $75 by themselves, but for $25 more you get the whole car. Yard is in Eatonton, GA (North Central GA) about 65 miles North of Macon and about 60 miles south of Atlanta. Here's some of the Buicks I saw Saturday: several 68 and 69 Skylarks complete with engines, a 4 dr 71 Skylark with plastic grille, Centurion with 455, Boattail Riv w/455, old Invicta 'vert, couple of 80's G body Regals. A friend said he saw a convertible Skylark but I didn't eyeball that one. Besides the Buicks, here's some of the other stuff I spotted: plenty of 70-2 Cutlasses, late 50's Cadilacs, Mustangs, also a 65-6 (?) Olds 442 w/motor intact. A friend of mine bought a 67 Impalla SS minus drivetrain. Also, I saw 2-3 really old buildings in this yard that were roofed with 1941 GA license plates. I'll post a pic of this as I took my digital camera. Very unique and different. Owner says they'll be crushing anyday so I wanted to give a shout to any of you that could get there. If anyone needs directions or a #, I can try and supply. No GS cars or Turbo Regals or those would have come home with me!

    Hi Evans,

I work in Covington near Eatonton. Shoot me the name and directions also if you don't mind.

Do you ever get to Silver Dollar? I used to live in Thomaston and raced there every chance I got. Did not get to Twiggs County Dragway much though.

    Thanks!

    '69 Core Support/Old Buick Convertible

    Hi,

I found all (about 5!) '68 and '69 Skylarks and they all had the core supports eaten away with rust. Rough is being nice.

15 or 20 years ago this would have been some yard, 442's - '64 and '69, Roadrunners, '69 Chevelle SS 4 speed, '65 Malibu SS convertible, '63 SS Impala 4 speed, etc. There are so many bushes, trees and green sticky growth, you can be literally be standing next to a car and not see it.

I only had to pull off one tick, but I am still scratching posion ivy.
    :puzzled:

I have to go back for some Chevelle junk, but I will see what else I can find.

    Take Care!

Here is an old $100.00 buick convertible for you. If it was painted black and had a big block...I think it would come pretty close to looking like the Batmobile.

don't mess up a good thing

I went out to this yard with BOOST a couple of weeks ago then went back last friday and picked up a '73 455 for $75. When I went back, the guy running the show told me that it seems that someone lifted an old Shell gas station sign that he eas saving for himself and he was mighty pissed about it. He was talking about closing the yard to the public and just crushing everything.

I think he had just found it missing so he probably calmed down after awhile but I sure hope some s**t head doesn't spoil things for us guys just trying to scrounge parts for our rides.

    good news

    Tom,

That's great! I tried to help him find it but couldn't remember exactly where it was. I thought maybe it was still there but he was pretty convinced that it was gone. Its good to know that no one lifted it. Thanks. BTW, did you buy something while you were there?

Thanks for the kind words. :beer

Those 2 are my entire collection but I sure do enjoy them both. The 59 was purchased in 1987 after being restored by Duffy's Collectibles in Cedar Rapids IA. It was a gift from me to my father. When he passed away in 2000 the car came to me. You can imagine how proud I am about that one. :)
