i have a 69 skylark and im switching over to a 8.5 10 bolt.well anyway my e brake cables are crap and my friend said you dont need them just dont hook it back up.my question is what about the rear brake bracket that fits behind the rear brake shoe?do you just leave it out?
I would not do that just for safety reasons. It could cost you your life. It is not called an emergency brake for nothing. Also if you state requires an inspection of your car it would not pass.
all you have to do is not install the e-bracket behind the shoes then you just have to adjust the shoes by hand
All states require at least two forms of brakes to be installed on every passenger vehicle. You know inline tube and plenty of other places can make e-brake cables, right?
Technically speaking, it is officially know as a "parking brake", not an emergency brake. Have you ever used one as an emergency brake? All it does is make you slide out of control. Prolly have better luck throwing it into reverse. :Smarty:
It serves as both an emergency and as a parking brake. Have you ever tried throwing a 4 speed into reverse after loosing your regular brakes going downhill on I -40 at Black Mountain, NC ?
