I pickup the GS!!!! Whooo Hoooo!!!! :)

By this time tomorrow night, I will be the proud owner of a 70 GS Stage 1. My parents came back from Florida a week or so early and I'm going to do the title paperwork tomorrow, after work. My dad said that he would be glad to see me with the car, since it will get some running time now (he just doesn't have the time for it). I'm guessing he will be a bit sad to see it go, after owning it for 28 years. I told him once I got it running good and some new wheels and tires, I'd bring it by and take him out for a ride. :)

I'm also in the process of buying a new house with my fiance, so the GS will have a very nice home, in a really sweet garage (with heat). :) BTW, I named her Ruby (since she's misty burgundy with a white hardtop).

I still have to order calipers for her, and replace the wheel cylinders in the rear, hopefully I'll be able to bring her home this weekend. I'll post some pics once she's at our house.

Congrats Scott! And your on the right board to start the resto, with all of the knowledge on here it makes it much easier to stay motivated and to find parts. If it weren't for this board, I probably wouldn't have gotten addicted to the point of buying 3 cars...:Dou: I'm pretty sure it's a good thing though. :beer Oh yeah, and pictures would be awesome.

Yee haw, I picked up the car last night and drove it around for a bit, before putting it in the garage. I only had temporary insurance from Nationwide, so I could get it home. My Hagerty insurance is being processed.

I took it out for a shake down drive to make sure the brakes, transmission, radiator hoses and everything else was working okay. I went back to my parent's house and my dad had two boxes of misc parts waiting for me. Bonus!! :pp

I got on it a bit to see how she handles and if there was going to be any issues, I wanted them to happen close to my parent's house. I left and was out on the road for about 10 minutes before some guy wanted to see how she ran. I was in the GM complex close to my house, it has brand new roads and no police!! I was sitting waiting for the light to change and a guy in a brand new, supercharged Bonneville pulled up next to me. I wasn't paying much attention, until he ran up the motor and I looked over. I could tell what he wanted, but thought a bit about it and then decided that this is what I had waited all this time for.

The light turned red and I left him sitting at the light in a cloud of smoke. It turns out it was tire smoke. The marks it left were about 200 feet long and then a short break as it shifted to 2nd and then two more for about 100 feet. I let off the gas as I don't have the tach working right now and didn't want to do anything major. I stopped at the next light and the guy in his $35000 car wouldn't even look at me, or my general direction. :3gears:

I babied it the rest of the way home (about 2 miles) and took my fianc's son out for spin around the block. He's really into the tuner cars, but we had to chisel the smile off his face after our trip.

"Ruby" is sitting in the garage now, with all of the dust and dirt from sitting for 22 years, all washed away. I'll attach a picture of her after her bath yesterday. I've got to replace the rear brakes this week and get some new battery cables, but getting her home was my main goal for this week. I also need to start scraping the cruddy paint that my dad put in the engine compartment, and getting it ready for a temporary touch up, just to be presentable for the summer.

Hmm, don't know why my pictures didn't attach, maybe they are too big. I'm in the middle of watching "The Haunted Mansion" with my fiance, but I'll try it again in a little while. Priorities. :)
