Hey Dave, The car looks perfect!!!! But then I expect nothing less from you. Sorry to hear about your setback though. Did you get time to find out what's wrong?? I have a question with the vapor line clips, you told me to remove the one's on my 71 when I showed you pictures of it no??? Ron Sannino
Hi Ron, My engine is fixed. Had rear main oil leak. As far as the vapor line clips did you mean the ones at the cannister? They were usually not used on a 71. But never say never. The assembly manual will back this up. I thought you sold your 71?
Hey Dave, yes my 71 is gone but when I saw you guys speaking of the clips I was wondering if you told me they shouldn't be there because it was a 71 or in general. But not to worry I removed them before the car was sold becauce "MY MENTOR" (you) told me to!!!!! What was the knocking sound you spoke of?? Ron
Way to go Dave!!!:beer You deserved it bud. They should of given you a trophy for determination and perserverance. And maybe another one for fastest restoration.
Here is some more detail of the rear end. Too bad no one will ever see it unless it is on a lift. The ON code is for 3.64 posi. The brown paint is for 3.64 and the orange is for posi. My home made stencil did not come out as crisp as I wanted. I should have sprayed the letters instead of brushing them but for some thing no one will ever see I guess it is OK.
I also sprayed the axle tubes and cover black and let it overspray the center section as it was from the factory when the GM worker sprayed it from behind. I did cheat and spray the entire axle tubes. Why let it rust?
Finally got my judging sheet from the GS Nationals. Managed to get 396 out of 400 points for Concourse Gold. Better than I had hoped for. Thanks to all the judges out there. There were some great cars in attendance.
Wow, very nice job... It came out great... Congrats on the Judging :TU: Maybe next spring we can get together at a cruise/show, if I go east or if you come to western ma... :3gears:
Just checked back in and saw the great news!!! Congrats Dave for a job well done. It's guys like you that really make the hobby cool. Ron
