I am undecided on what color I want to paint my 71, so I thought I would ask some opinions.I have several months before I start to paint. My car is dark blue with a white top and white racing stripes. Option 1 is keep everything the same. Option 2 tuxedo black with a white or alabaster top and racing stripe. Option 3 tuxedo black with a matte black racing stripe. Option 4 burnt orange with a white racing stripe. I think hot hue calls it molten lava orange. Option 4 candy brandywine with an undecided racing stripe. Option 5 something else. I know it's my car and I should paint it whatever color I like. I was just wondering some input on these colors from people with more knowledge than I have. You might have seen these color before and it didn't look good in person (sometime a paint idea should stay an idea) or you might know of a color that I haven't heard of before. I just found out about the tuxedo black a month ago. Thanks in advance.

IMO those stripes have to go. Either put gsx stripes on or no stripes at all

I was considering the gsx stripes with those same options.

Chevelle stripes have to go! I don't know about the white stripe. Seems risky unless its on a black or dark blue car.

A guy in here painted a "burnt orange" car with a matte black stripe. It looked really good. Another guy did a black with a dark gray stripe. Also killer. Look around the website and the "Garage" and find what you like. Its what you like, not what somebody else likes. Nothing wrong with dark blue/white and it might be easier to paint. I always thought a pearl white/matte black would be nice.

I was at a car show yesterday and spotted this '71 Camaro that was Medium Mettalic Blue with Silver stripes. Really popped in the sun.

I really like alabaster and tuxedo black, but I don't think they go together. I'm really leaning toward tuxedo black metallic. Here are pictures of the 2 colors. The 1st picture is tuxedo black and the second picture is alabaster. The bottom part of the impala is what I'm talking about not the orange.

I haven't seen one like this for years but I liked a 69 Olds 442 when I was little that was a Dark Green and and had Ivory stripes. That made the chrome POP!
I think those colors would look killer on a 71 Skylark/ GS!

When I look at paint colors; I always lean towards the reds, oranges and yellows, with and without black in them.

Red is a hot color and makes the cars look more aggressive; blues and greens are all cool colors and they are also very nice but they dont stimulate the same reactions.

Our 63 Chevy C10 is going to be matte black with red interior, and we plan on doing reverse on the Skylark, hopefully the fire red as it is supposed to be with black interior.

The molten lave with matte black really sounds like a good combination; tuxedo black with matte black also sounds like a good combination.

Looking forward to seeing pictures once what you get it done!

I just one on YouTube that didn't have the strip going down the middle. It only had the stripe going across the trunk and down the sides and it looked real nice. I might paint it black with only the a red gsx stripe across the trunk and down the sides. The same color concept on that GTO I posted a picture of. I bet that would look sweet.
