We need one original radiator that came on some of the cars listed above. The correct one can be identified by the following: 3 core and not 4 core; The passenger top corner will take a 90 degree turn and not cut off like a 72 and above radiator; The filler neck opening will be parallel to the ground and not at an angle; The word Harrson will be embossed into the metal on the edge of the passenger side tank; and The metal on the back of the passenger side tank, just below the trans lines hook ups , will be embossed with the letters "X " and "S".
Jim, I'll double ck. Mainly horde up original 4 cores & have a local shop recore them for me as projects progress. Know we're out of manual trans 3 cores, but will ck if any 3 core A/T. Roger
Thanks Roger I am in need for a concours' resto. Here is a pic of the back ot the passenger side tank.
Jim, I still have the rad from my '71 GS. Don't know if it is original or not, but I'll check this week as the rad is at my place of work. I do believe it's a 3 row, and is an A/T rad.
Jim, I have the radiator out of my 36,000 original mile 70 Skylark. I am not sure if it is original but I will check this weekend when I go down to my friends shop. The car was a 350 2bbl, auto trans with A/C.
If you look down further you may see an F also as "CF" was a common 3 core then but not the one I need. I appreciate the fact you would you look.
Jim, So far, have only looked at four original 3 cores. (3) BI with XI passenger tanks (1) '72 3 core... won't work. 4 cores, have PB's, PD's, PM's, one MK, PA's & BT's for own projects. I'll look some more, even ck still assembled A-body & GrandPrix partscars. Rads often were swapped, so who knows what else, till I ck. :3gears: Roger
Yes there were a number and you would think the originals would be everywhere. The original would be XS on the passenger side tank under the trans lines and IA on the drivers side tank on the back. The feet of the "A" in the IA are cut off by a seam. A lot of drivers tanks were the smaller IA size and quite a few were other sizes on the passenger side like CF. Thanks Roger for looking.
Jim, I looked at my radiator today. Passanger side has "CF" stamped in th tank & dirvers side has "IA" stamped in the tank. I know you said you were looking for a "XS" stamp on the passanger side. What was the difference in the radiatiors?
