Original 70 Overflow Hose Striping?

Was the original hose from the radiator to the overflow bottle and the hose from the bottle to the tube loop on the radiator yellow striped or not?

Does anyone own a 70 Skylark with these hoses that they know are originals?

I believe they were Jim, either white or yellow, I'll post a picture in a minute

I'm not sure it is pertinent with your application, Jim, but the original ones on my 71's were solid black with ribs. (both the overflow tube and the one connected to the radiator) ...no stripes

I have seen what both of you say said as the way they came. YO offers what they say was identical to the originals and my understanding it is without the stripe. But you can rely on that either.

I saw these cars back then but I do not recall how they came. 36 years will do that you know.

That is the stuff YO says was correct for a 70 also. Any stripe on those?

Nah, doesn't appear to have any stripe, I removed the clamp to see if there was a hint of color, but nothing. I must be mistaken :Dou:

I too have seen that same ribbed hose on some cars that appeared to be original. So YO may be correct in waht they are selling.

I never really noticed till now, but the ribbing doesn't surround the entire hose

Yes that is exactly what I have seen too. I never thought much about it until now. I do remember the ones I have seen just like thoset, which I assume were original , had become very stiff over the years and were no longer very flexible.

Jim, if you'd like a couple, I'll send them your way, there still soft and flexible

If you have a specimen that would be nice. I am not sure I have kept any of those. I want to compare it to the YO repro stuff when it arrives.

Jim, on my unmolested 70 skylark (12,400 miles) it had the ribbed with NO stripe style. The ribs are not all the way around also.
I used this car to verify things for my Reynolds car along with using some of it's parts...poor thing :error:

Thanks a lot for that piece of info. We must be on the right track.

The only white-striped hose I have seen is the small vac hose that runs the heater control valve.

On A bodies the hose to the windshield washer bottle I believe has a stripe. I do not if that was the case for the 70 B,C or E body cars.

    GStage1 Always looking for parts!

Only striped hoses in the engine compartment are:

Black hose w/white stripe for heater control valve
Black hose w/yellow stripe from washer bottle to washer pump
