The Model T Ford Club of America's website is being hacked. The hackers just block entry to it; after a bit the club's moderators get it up and running, then the hackers shut it down again. What's wrong with people? All they are doing is preventing decent folks from doing what they enjoy. How does that make some arsehole feel good about him/her self? I'm not a violent person, but I'd like to take a sledgehammer to every single piece of computer equipment that this jerk owns. Grrr!
...most likely punk kid(s) with time on their hands that think it's funny...real hackers spend their time on more "productive" tasks. Unfortunately, if not stopped they likely will grow up to become real hackers...
Azzholes are going to Azzhole. Till someone gives them a smack-down. Hope you guys get it under control.
Hey John... Its probably that weird kid from 7-8 years ago that threatened JUST THAT! Is the FordBarn intact? I havent been over there in about 6 years. If anyone uses forums here(LOL) theres some that are run off of WEB-TV. ws
The Ford Barn is OK. As of this AM so was the MTFCA site. It has been shut down two of the last three days.
Likely DoS or DDoS attack...childsplay but effective. Think of it no different than vandalism. Annoying, ugly but can be cleaned up.
Someday, someone will find a way for anyone to find out who is doing that crap, their IP address, etc.. Face to face, these asshats are cowards.
Just for the record - nothing that is on the internet is secure. Ever. I have three cousins who are computer software engineers. One lives in a home that movie stars could not afford. Two of them were attending a software engineers convention about 20 years ago, the discussion evolved to how many lines of code would they be willing to guarantee that would work perfectly forever? The lives of their wife/husband and children would be forfeit if the lines didn't work exactly as intended forever. The median number of lines was three. The minimum was one. The maximum was seven. Many computer programs run to hundreds of thousands or even millions of lines. If any of my cousins wanted to hack or gain access to your site they could - probably in minutes. Fortunately they are all honest and they don't need the money, but there is always someone smarter then you...
There is a way and it starts with the ISP whether a college or not. Furthermore a person with the right tools (packet sniffer) can do it. DoS can be sourced quickly. A DDoS would take more work. To follow up on others who chimed in, not everything can be hacked in minutes unless you are the US government. This isn't the 200x years and you better not be running Windows XP. Software engineers, software developers and other labels they have are not necessarily "smart" at this or an authority on the topic of "hacking." Most websites are hosted with a reasonable strength, and the hacker would need some key information or Phish attack someone first to gain simple access. If your website is on you home PC, well that is a different story. I am a Certified Ethical Hacker. Yes it is a real thing. Often referred to as a "white hat" or a penitration tester.
