i took my newly found gem to be power timed
When i got it back it was making an odd rattle and i could feelit in the pedal..
Long story short the tranny bolts [rear main] were all lose.
The car has sat for about 4 years till i had gotten it..
i pulled the tranny pan [4 bolt one] and inspected the flexplate and juice box.
The 3 bolts holding the juciebox and plate together were substantially lose..
After I had tightened everything the transmission slowly degraded.
First it was acting like a 2500 stall convertor.. Was neato at first but i knew something was wrong.. I had cheked all vacum lines and the modulator [adjustable] to no avail.
After she sat for a long while today she won't move at all..
Is it fair to say that my torque convertor was out of balance and when i straitend it out it became even more out of balance?
Out of balance to the point to where it won't work at all? [locomotion]
It was shifting fine and operating fine this morning and last night.
I didnt have it back long enough from the shop to do any damage to it..
I didnt start stomping into it until i notice the stall speed raised significantly from stock..
Would it be "unwise" to just install a new torque convertor instead of a whole new tranny?
I don't have the money to rebuild this one.
The local guys want 1800 bux to rebuild it..
I can get a new tranny [almost bulletproof] online or @ autoparts store for 400 bux [with core charge]. A few hundred more to have it installed..
Torque convertor is only a few hundred with a few hundred more for installation...
Which should i do guys.. I'm on a limited budget and kinda need to get things running to keep the life cycle in orbitary motion..

Please post recomendations I'm all ears..

It is very likely that it is your transmission, and not your torque converter, that has failed. Sorry....

Think Nick is right. If you like, pull the pan on your trans and let us know what is, or isn't in the bottom of it. BTW, does the trans fluid smell burnt and what color is it?

    I was just asking .
It died on me [transmission] too far from home to be pushed back.
I had it towed to have it overhauled/rebuilt.
    They're tryin to sell me a B&M Th-350 bulletproof for $650..
I chose to keep the numbers matching and rebuild mine w/ shift kit. for $450

Good choice. Hope all ends up well.
