I know you guys have been paying out the nose for gas, but how much of an increase have you seen in the last year? My assumption is that the US has seen a much higher increase then other countries.

Some countries also have much lower prices, at least in the past. Some under-developed countries have historically paid much less

In Sweden it's 11 sek/l. for 95oct. lowest avail. That translates to 1.55$/l = 5.86$ / gallon... how about that... Now, the dollar is low at the moment in comparison the Swedish currency, so that's part of it, but gas is in general a lot more expensive in Europe. Just look at all the cars there. 1.2l engine for a small car, nothing over three litres displacement for a big car. They still get good performance out of them tough. I remember driving a friend's escort here ten years ago, with a two litre engine, that car was so slow and the manual gearbox was like a hole with a stick in it. That's where I got my first hands on impression of the poor quality of U.S. cars.

    CIT Poweraddict, help me

    Current price 6.2$ gallon
    Last year 5.3$ gallon

About 15% increase but for most families it doesn't matter much
Most danish families only got one car and it goes +30 mpg so cost is max 50$ pr month more than last year

My Buick is another matter :af: Last season I spent 500$ pr month on gas, it will go above 600$ this year :puzzled:

We are not overseas but we are still feeling it.

Here in Vancouver B.C. we are currently at 1.029/ Litre which works out to $3.91 per gallon Canadian currency = $3.21 per Gallon U.S. Dollars.

Canada only imports 20% of it's needed oil as compared to the U.S. which imports 80%, so we are really getting screwed by "so called OPEC" control.
If we were to base it on our own costs it would be about half of what we are paying.

We're catching up though, real quick. Estimated $2.50/gallon by memorial day, $3/gallon by labor day for the cheap stuff.

    Pete,
I hear you loud & clear. It broke the $1.00/litre mark here couple days ago.
We have, I think, Canada's largest refinery here in Saint John. If not No.1 then No.2.
Must be the shipping costs to get it across town.

European countries have higher gasoline prices because added taxes are quite a bit more than here in the states. Been like that for decades.

Here in Lebanon the price per liter 98 octan is approx $0.80. Seems good, but if you calculate that a average salery is $400/mnt, it hurts.
The Government tried to raise it 25% last fall. Ended up with riots, burning road blocks and army in the streets.

Back home in Norway, (which is a major oil produser), I understand that it is now $1.80 per liter.
Than again a pack of Marlboro or a draft beer in a pub is $10.

I like V8's a good smoke and a cold beer, that's one of the reasons I here. :Brow:

Just filled up and paid $2.24/gal. here in Omaha for the cheap stuff at a Conoco station. Highest octane was $2.54/gal. there.

Still only $.89 litre here in London, Ontario. It has fluctuated quite a bit the last 3 months. It was down to .71 at one point.

Up to 1.049 per litre here today. For all you that don't know, 1 U.S. gallon = 3.8 litres. 1 imperial gallon = 4.5 litres ( old Canadian and British measurement)

It really makes me mad that the price of oil has been dropping the last couple days but the gas prices are still going up. It's BS that they raise the gas prices the same day that oil goes up, but are sooooo slow to lower it, as they say that the cheaper fuel has not reached the market yet. Yeh, what ever scum-bags!!!

Working in Edmonton, Alberta this week (more refining capacity up here than anywhere in Canada) and premium was 95.4/litre today; 4.29 (cdn) for an imperial gallon (think this translates to about 3.47 a US gallon) Factor in the difference in the dollar (about 20%) and we're in about the same boat as our buddies down south. Back in Saskatoon, it was 1.05/litre last week. The prices have gone up almost 50% since last year. I WAS going to buy another Suburban this year...think I'll break out the ten-speed instead...maybe I'll buy a bus pass and start saving for a small brown sedan...hmmm...didn't think I'd be able to afford to restore these Buicks...now I can't afford to drive 'em ! :af:
