70sgeek drive it like a rental.

finally accumulated most of the 'correct' factory steering parts to swap from manual to power on my '72 skylark rag - not without a few snags along the way though... had to swap the straight pump pulley for the recessed type to pull it back towards the inside crank pulley and I invariably ended up with the wrong pressure hose - if the one I have is for anything GM ever made I couldn't tell you what... then the new fuel pump refused to go in - that was an hour and 1 stripped bolt hole (had to rethread with a metric size).. the steering pump mounting base (to the block) needed to be spaced out by 2 washers to compensate for spacing gaps in the design and then the rear pump bracket itself needed spacing to clear the block for belt adjusting movement. So far it all looks pretty though... gotta order the right pressure hose - that'll set me back to next weekend before I can finish anything up.

oh, and all the time it took to do this stuff today - that was my father's day present... guess that means tomorrow's back to business as usual
