P S Pump

    Hi Guys just got a p/s pump and brackets installed on my 70/350 motor it fits great unlike my other one but it dont work.I have tried jacking the wheels up and going side to side lock i also cracked open the hose to see if it will help but no good.there was not much pressure when i open the hose i was expecting more can i have it rebuilt or do napa carry them as i dont want to mess around with another used one thanks Chris :TU:

    Power steering pumps are easy with basic hand tools all except the pulley and shaft bushing. Most auto stores will have a rebuild kit, they are pretty generic and fit 20+ years of GM and Ford vehicles. You can buy a reman one as well but aren't that complicated.

    Do a search on youtube for a quick run down on what's involved. You can probably swap your old pump, if it worked otherwise, in to the brackets and housing of the current on.

    Just called napa and ordered the pump i never knew that the guts of the pump can be replaced i thought i had to get a whole new outer case as well,and as you said they are the same for twenty years thanks again Chris :TU:
