Hi Guys just got a p/s pump and brackets installed on my 70/350 motor it fits great unlike my other one but it dont work.I have tried jacking the wheels up and going side to side lock i also cracked open the hose to see if it will help but no good.there was not much pressure when i open the hose i was expecting more can i have it rebuilt or do napa carry them as i dont want to mess around with another used one thanks Chris :TU:
Power steering pumps are easy with basic hand tools all except the pulley and shaft bushing. Most auto stores will have a rebuild kit, they are pretty generic and fit 20+ years of GM and Ford vehicles. You can buy a reman one as well but aren't that complicated. Do a search on youtube for a quick run down on what's involved. You can probably swap your old pump, if it worked otherwise, in to the brackets and housing of the current on. Here's one I like that seems to be pretty thorough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lsqH7IS4bPc He has a second part as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zMW1Kp68ec
Just called napa and ordered the pump i never knew that the guts of the pump can be replaced i thought i had to get a whole new outer case as well, and as you said they are the same for twenty years thanks again Chris :TU:
