PAE Cam Specs Needed?

    Hi everyone,

I am new to this so hope I am not breaking rules here. I have a 1974 GS Stage 1 that my dad built years ago and I am desperately trying to search for specs on the cam that was installed in the car. It is an awesome build but I am doing some tuning to it. I was asked for cam specs. We all seem to remember that this is probably a PAE cam and I thought it was similar to a "hemi killer" cam. I know the heads were reworked by the same place and thought it was PAE that did this as well. I dont know 100% if this information makes sense or if I am thinking of the right place. I cant find information on the cam and I think PAE must be out of business. Does anyone have any ideas on where I could find information like this? I am guessing (just my luck) that there is more than the one cam. This is a 10.75 to 1 motor and 850 Holley and Super Scavenger Headers. Stock HEI brand new from TA. Just a little background. Any help is always appreciated. Happy to be here.

PAE has been out of business for years. Use the search key on this Board for the details.

I am unaware that PAE ever made cams. I suspect Jim Burek used cams made by others. So you could either look at the code on the end of the cam or take it out and use a cam measurement machine to give you the specs.

Jim speced some of the cams for Postons and used alot of them,

Hugger is correct in that Jim never made cams. For a time he was one of a handful of guys who could build a Buick engine that made power. PAE engine is what is in the car in my Avatar. He would spec cams from various manufacturers or vendors depending on the performance level of engine to be built. Poston, GSCA, Lunati, Comp, TA, etc. were all mentioned in my conversations about engine builds with Jim.

Jim Lore is on the money about determining what cam is in it unless you can find the data sheet from PAE. I have one somewhere in a file for each of my engines. I suspect that the cam is a relatively big stick given the carb and headers, etc. As a benchmark, my very mild Stage 1 455 with a Lunati cam and 10.25:1 compression with a Q-jet and manifolds made 450 hp and 530 ft-lbs on Jim's dyno almost 20 years ago. My barely streetable Stage 1 455 made more than 530hp and something north of 600 ft-lbs. The real numbers are unknown because this engine was on the dyno at the time the dyno simply stopped and Jim replaced that dyno with a new one.

Might be a Poston Enterprises cam, but I don't think Poston made anything like the Hemi Killer. This is TA Performance's version of the Hemi Killer,

I have a Poston catalog (Spring 2000) listing all their cams.
