Last fall I bought a 72 Skylark Custom Convert. The car was painted by MACCO , I think, in 1984. How much paint do I have to remove before laying on a single stage paint? Any preference on primer and paint brand? It's dark green and there is very little body work needed, just some adjustment to get the left front fender up a litrtle and the pass dor needs a wider space. One very small rust area on the deck lid. I feel like I can do this myself except I'll get some help with lineing up the door and hood/fender. I've painted several boats but never a full car. Thoughts? Ideas?

    Thanks

a clean slate is always your best bet.....you never know what might be lurking under there...take a magnetc mil gauge...cheap at any autobody supply store or a weak magnet and check all the panels for bondo
