Any suggestions on the best way to remove the argent gray paint from the grill sections of a 64 Riv? It is just on the horizontal grill parts. I'm trying to do a whole front set up that is just the underlying chrome.

    thanks

Only thing I think would work is a chemical stripper. Ther is a less agressive type made for plastic and fiberglass that comes in aresol. I think it's called bumper stripper

Easy Off as in oven cleaner. Spray it down and put it in a plastic bag for a few hours.

Dave, have you ever used Easy Off for this type of paint removal before? Just put it in a big garbage bag and shoot?

    thanks

    Larry,

I have probably repaired and repainted over 50 grilles and I use the oven cleaner to remove the old paint. The secret is to keep the oven cleaner from drying on the part. I learned this trick from a plastic model magazine years ago. The plastic will not be damaged from the oven cleaner if you try using solvent based removers you run the risk of melting the plastic.

    Dave,

The grill is pot metal not plastic. I'm hoping the chrome will stay good after removing the paint.

    Larry,

I am so used to dealing with the plastic griiles I forgot some were potmetal.
Go ahead and use any spray stripper won't harm the chrome.
