I am in the process finally of stripping the fine rustoleum-from-the-can paint off my 72, with the intent of doing some bodywork and shooting better quality paint.

I am going to keep the flat black color. I was looking at Eastwood's Rat Rod flat black.

Has anyone used it, and how were the results?

    Any other paint suggestions?

If I were going to buy 1 (inexpensive) paint gun, which should it be?

This will be a home driveway/garage paint job, nothing showy here.

Any thoughts on compressor size and the HVLP guns? I have heard you need 5hp min compressor, but mine might be 3hp.

Dupont makes Hot Rod Black which has UV blockers
Sem also make a Hot Rod Black that is supposed to be one of the best on the market for UV blockage...it is guaranteed not to chalk when exposed tio sunlight and is fairly inexpensive....

as far as spray guns....thats like getting into a Ford or Buick Debate.... DEV Sharpe make some inexpensive profesional guns that you can get parts for

As far as a compressor it is not the HP you need to look at but the Volume of Air....CFM@psi you need to spray.... as far as how large your tank is....HP will allow compressor to keep up with air demand....a 3hp with a 60 gal tank can often do as good of a job as a 5hp with a 20 gal tank....
you want to look for around 14-18 CFM @45 psi for a conventional Spray gun...
