Having trouble trying to figure out how to remove my front parking brake cable from inside the car. I have disconnected it from the detente fitting but cant work out how this section comes out thru the floor. There is probably an easy way to do it but i am at a loss here ...hope someone can help solve my dilemna
    Cheers

YOU will have to depress the tangs around that part against the floor. It should then pull / push through the floor. Its not easy but can be done

Just a wild guess but try using a spiral hose clamp to squeeze the tangs in then push it through the clamp and floor.

    Might work :)

It does work. Just like on the backing plates

Been there, done that. The front cable replacement isn't easy, but it can be done, Its just difficult with the fender and wheel house in place. Yep, the tangs need to be depressed. You can do it with a tool- small prybar, screwdriver, etc. Press the tangs in one at a time while putting some pressure on the cable. The real PITA is going to be getting the new one back in :D

Just out of curiosity, why are you changing it? Most of the time the rear cables are the ones that go bad.

They make a tool for that! As mentioned a clamp, or pushing the tangs will work. You can use a box end wrench, and force it over the tangs, too.

Appropriate sized 12pt wrench or use a small hose clamp. Tie a piece of wire to it to help fish the new one back through.

Thanks for the replies guys I think the hose clamp or box wrench should work perfectly. ...Reason for removal is ..I am doing a body removal to place on a replacement ( rust free) frame

I used to have a small length of stainless tubing I used on drum brakes to slip over the swage and push on the tangs.

    But lost it long ago.

I never had good luck fighting with a worm clamp.

I prefer to use an inappropriate tool because it's close and then curse, bleed and throw stuff,..but that's just me
