Has anybody else receive an email concerning a paypal settlement? it redirected me to this site https://www.paypal.com/settlement/ http://www.settlement4onlinepayments.com/faq.php3
Yeah, I got the same thing, but I am always hesitant to put in user name etc in those, cause its tied directly to my checking account. I was gonna read mor eabout it later. You learn anything? -JOn
I got the same notice.... tried to post it, but to many letters.. I get a lot of fake ebay notices, I wondered if this was real ??? owen
I got the same notice. If it,s not real, they sure must have a team of lawyers to write scams nowaday. I quit using Paypal about a year ago when they decided they need your bank acct. information. No thanks, not me. Dan
Its real. near the bottom of the page of yesterdays news. http://slashdot.org/index.pl?issue=20040728
Thats kind of a dumb reason. How else can they protect people from fraude unless they get detail info about you/them??? Its for your own protection. Though you do not need to have a paypal account to pay people anymore. They changed that. You only need an account to recieve money.
I haven't recieved any letters from paypal about my account, that's why I wonder if it's fake or not.
Yes its real Paypal has had to settle a court case and is giving away $9.2m Although only a certain number of people were affected they are going to distribute the cash to ALL paypal users in the US - who registered before Jan2004. The case surrounded the fact that PayPal blocked access to people's accounts amongst other things illegaly. you can read more here too.. You probably wont get much cash out of it but you never know.. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/07/29/paypal_class_settlement/ I would be a little wary of following links just in case since I am sure some scam artist is giong to try and cash in on this. Always make sure that you go through links from the paypal homepage or double check any emailed link with paypal itself.

In this agreement, PayPal does not acknowledge that any of the allegations in the case are true and entered into the Settlement Agreement to avoid further costs of litigation, and to devote resources to more productive areas of our business PayPal's employees and subsidiaries can not provide information or legal advice in relation to the class action lawsuit and proposed settlement. Uh oh, my B.S. meter just went off... ou: Sounds alot like "We locked alot of accounts illegally and we don't want to say we did anything bad and actually be held accountable so we're copping out."
now that paypal is an ebay company they would rather just pay it off n forget the past. Thats chump change to them. They said on TV like a million buck n hr is traded on ebay.
