Hi James, Thanks for the info on what pearl white paint to use. I'm getting ready to tackle this project. How many cans of each should I order? Thanks for the help!!

I would imagine that it depends on the color that you start with. Are you starting with a black and changing color?

I have a question about the Sem soap, what do you use to remove the soap?

    Hi Glen,

As mentioned above, it depends on what color the plastic is before you start trying to cover it with the Super White, and how many parts you are spraying. Bench seat cars don’t use as much as bucket seat cars due to the seat backs and aprons. You will definitely need more cans of the Super White than the pearl. I think I used between 2-3 cans of the Super White, and 1-2 cans of the pearl on the bucket seat car. I can’t remember how much it took on the bench seat car probably 1-2 cans of white and 1 can of pearl.

Everything is already white, even the reproduction seat backs will be white so no color change. Doing headrests, side plastic and seat backs for now. Later will be doing short console, armrests and quarter conv. trim. Thanks for the info as always.

I sprayed my hard plastic parts today and head rests. My upholstery shop suggested running my seat backs , lowers and arm rests through my bead blaster on low pressure. I tested it on some junk pieces first and no damage to the grain. He said he’s been doing it for years and then wipes it down w alcohol and has never had a come back. I rain them through at 60psi then used the sems soap , bull dog promoter , sems paint and Ames pearl. They look really nice. Painted over saddle interior plastic , Took 2 1/2 cans paint and one Ames pearl. Took most of the morning but it turned out real nice

If I wanted to re dye a white 72 deluxe interior without pearl, is the super white the closest match?

The sems soap just rinses off with water, it states to just wipe it off with a wet rag if doing vinyl, im guessing not to saturate the foam in the head rests areas etc. I had an old spray can of sems vinyl and plastic prep, you just spray it on like wax and grease remover and wash off with water too. Use a grey scotch brite with the sems soap and its suppose to etch the plastic and clean out all the pores in the plastic
