This is the frame from my 70 Buick GS. This project started about 2 and a half years ago.Everything has been replaced with new parts High energy suspension.stainless steel brake and fuel lines. I never plained on going this far with it but once you take the body off there's not much sence of putting it back together with the old parts. I just set the body back on the frame about 2 weeks ago. What a great feeling after having it apart. My goal is to have it ready to take to Englishtown NJ over Labor day.

    body back on frame

Here the body is back on the frame . Still alot of work ahead of me.The pic. in my avatar is what the car looked like before I started this project. The body only had 1 rust spot. Not bad for 33 years old.

    another pic.

It wasn't really that hard. A friend of mine PAT or as he goes on here bignastytoyota had done this before. He came down on a Sat. morning and by about 1pm we had the body lifted and the frame rolled out and up in my other garage. We used a floor jack to lift it.was alot easier than I expected. All the body bolts came out except 1 an it broke. besides taking the gas tank out and unhooking the emergency brake cable thats about it.

    For the record,
What Kevin forgot to show you in the pics was his wife was holding a gun on me. She told me that I'D BETTER GET THAT DARN THING DONE SO SHE COULD PARK HER CAR BACK INTO THE GARAGE! Seriously though, We have been good friends a long time and I am always ready to help out when it comes to GS's.I am really helping Kevin get this back together so I too, can go to E-Town on the same date. I purchased a totally matching numbers 71 gs 350 car for $500.00 in Sept. and am feverishly trying to get it back together. With Kevins help(painting)I should make it.I am currently building a 70 315 hp warmed engine to put in it.Though I have no physical proof, I whooped this cars butt on the track with a very small 350(think i could've beat it with 2 plug wires off....lol)When we went to pick up the time slips the computer mysteriously shut down. hmmmm? Even though Idoubted that we would be ready for E-Town,Kevin has kept after me. It looks like now we will make it.Can't wait to show that 455 my rearend with my little 350 again. ..lol

Pat it sure is amazing how well those 350's run when you throw a few carefully selected speed parts at them. Yesterday on "THE BENCH" I gave the guy from the Mopar club some crap about how we didn't need Mikes(fromTA) blue wagon to beat their Hemis and that I could do it with my little 350 Buick. Don't know if I really could or not but it sure was fun to think about. Definitely would be close though.:spank: :spank:

    THE "455 KILLER" 350

    Jeff,
My car was is a 70 GS 350 with a mostly stock 350, 2 1/2 exhaust,15 in. wheels and a 4 speed. has a few goodies though,MSD good rebuild and 3,42 rear. have to admit it though, I was on top of my game. I ran over 85 runs at the track with NO problems. best et14.56 Between us two we have owned this car for 10- 15 years or more.We have owned other same cars over the years too.It seems we trade back in forth instead of selling. Both our wives think we are totally nuts though!......lol

Made alittle more progress this weekend. So far I'm pretty happy with it.If all goes well hopefully by next weekend I can get the rest of the car together. The biggest mistake I made while doing this car was doing the frame first. If I ever do another the body will be done first then i'll take it off the frame. It will take alot of cleaning getting the frame and engine all clean again.I guess you learn by your mistakes.

:jd: :jd: :jd: :jd: That is absol;utely beautiful!
I've very, very envious of you. What paint did you use?
What did you use to chrome your headlight bezels?
Is this your first time painting?
Do mine, do mine. Me next.

No side shot as of yet. Its just acrylic enamel with hardener. One of the headlight bezels is a NOS and the other one is a real nice used one I bought off another board member . This project was started in Aug. of 2000 I have most of the interior to put back in it yet as well as the rear bumper and side molding.
