I have went over and over this problem I am having with the top compressor bracket lining up with the compressor and the compressor to the lower bracket. the problem with the upper bracket MAY be with the aluminum Intake height ? but with the compressor to the lower brackets, are flat washers used as spacers to keep the compressor lined up for the belts ? With the small brackets bolted to the compressor there is a space between the samller brackets to the large main moumting bracket. If I were to tighten them all down the small lower brackets may bend. Any imput or pics. of a 73 455 would be nice. Thanks
i can't tell from your pics but do you have the bracket that bolts to the back of the compressor and goes up to the top bracket? The top bracket does not bolt directly to the compressor. I took the pics of mine for you thinking you may not have had that bracket. If you do, never mind. If you don't, check the pic in your other thread taken from the rear...
Yes I do . Here is the pic. I have the bracket bolts loose so to place it on the outside of the top bracket so not to bind and scrape off the powder coat. This can give you an idea of how far it is off.
I was wrong ou: all I can say is when you're using aftermarket parts, a lot of times you will need to make things fit by whatever means necessary. Thinking back to last year, I did have to open up the hole in the top bracket to get it to work with my SPX intake. As I remember it, I had to elongate the hole a 1/4" or so. Just one of many mods when doing a 350 to stg2 455 with A/C swap.
