We made it home in about 9 hours today, got in about 7:00 pm. 1123.65 miles round trip. Only saw one cop in Iowa and he was on the other side of the freeway but he was busy. Greg or I will post pics sometime after we caught up on sleep.

Was nice to finally put a face to names. Meet alot of really great people and saw some really cool cars that will have me drooling for days.

Was great to meet all of you.

As if that weren't enough. Greg had to drive another 80-100 mile round trip to take Kerstin back to Lincoln. Glad it wasn't me. My "marathon drivin'" days are done.
Looks like it was a good time up there. Wish I coulda come along too but maybe next fall/year.

Greg Schmelzer What are you looking at?!

    Sleeping is done!!

Well, we had a great time and it was great to finally be able to put some faces to names, screen names and real names included.

Should this happen again this fall, you can probably count on us coming again.

Bruce and Shirl, Great time had by all. Kudos extraordinaire for a great party.

Alex, Kerstin was more than happy to help with the girls. She had a blast with them.

Beth, Kerstin says that you are awesome! I think she may have bonded with a Buick buddy for life. All she could talk about on the trip back was how cool you were.

Dana, Kerstin loved the smoky ride in the GS.:3gears: :TU: Except now I have to get her one, too. Me first!! Got a line on a '71 Stage 1. That's all I am saying!!:Brow:

Liam is an awesome guy. Thanks for letting Kerstin drive you Silverado!!

JW, finally got to meet the guru.

Adam, great guy. Too bad about the ticket. They were cheating.

    Nate, tlivingd, good looking conv.

Loyd and ShariB, loved the way you guys left with the GN. They were the ones who first baptized County Road "Major Burnout". Great to see you both again.

    Dave, Wildcats rule, beautiful 68conv!!:TU:

Everybody else that we got to meet. I know I am forgetting many, many people, but it was great to meet all of you!!

And, as Bob has alluded to, I did have another 100 miles round trip to Lincoln after we got home.:puzzled: Very interesting drive back with nobody in the truck to talk to!

Will post some pics for everybody.

Hey Beth, there is already a picture of you on this thread, so don't go blaming me!! Besides, people can look at my avatar and get a good idea of what I look like.:Dou:

    Re: Sleeping is done!!

    Greg,
Well if you guys do come back you have to bring Kerstin :TU:
Hope she had a good birthday yesterday, please wish her a happy belated B-day for us. Yes she does have a Buick buddy for life.

I think Liam has a bit of a crush on her  and he thought it was cool she was driving his Silverado.

Next time I'll give Kerstin a smoky ride in the Wagon, that should really get her hooked :Brow:

As far as my picture being up here, at least you can't see my face

You know your avatar has more hair then you do
:moonu: (kidding), Oh, your ears aren't that big.

Can you PM me Kerstin's address? I would like to keep in touch with her. If you all lived closer I would hire her to Liam sit in a heartbeat.

Dana is trying to talk me into Kearney, oh god another road trip.

Glad you all made it back safely & again it was real great to meet you all.

    Beth

    meanmotor74 mmm.....pineapple

This post is a long one watch out!!

Oh man gotta do it again this fall,

It was really a bitchin party and I'm glad I met so many people in person!! Everyone there was really cool. I didn't get a chance to talk to everyone but those that I did talk to were stand up people! I'm sure happy that there were so many friendly people there (many "car guys" around where I live really aren't friendly, or their ricers, must be a Buick thing being able to love cars and be civil human beings) and that the Buicks outnumbered everything else!

I've gotten to think of everyone I talked to (my memory is kinda fuzzy from being tired and getting off work about three hours ago)

Dana and Beth, you guys are top notch. I looove the GS, that thing is a gutsy old dog (now to get my Nova...er Apollo to go that fast  ) and I hope to have wife that is that much into cars as you are Beth!! Oh and most importantly thanks for the directions, they were right on the money and definately easy to follow. Oh and tell Liam to take it easy on Bruce lol.

Greg and Eric, you guys really got some great stories to tell!! I never knew the dynamics or just how incredible rail cars really are...or what strange things can wind up in a container of Italian Marble... unbelievable! or the fact that you guys and Kristen (sp?) drove all the way from Nebraska! Glad ya made it back alright!!

Adam (Smartin), sorry to hear about the ticket man! Oh well at least you got friends in high places to help ya out with that. Plus your Centurion convertible is a bitchin car and musta at least been nice on the ride home from WI with the 455 howlin like big blocks do at highway speeds. Good luck and hope it works out for ya!

Nate (tlivingd), that Skylark convertible is a beaut! Take good care of her because it looks like it doesn't need that much work and that color is just off the wall man!

Dave (Wildcats Rule), your knowledge of the history of the big Buicks astounded me (how do you know so much about 'em???), not to mention your 68 Wildcat!! Wow that thing knocked my eyes back in my sockets!! Yowza!

Alex (Mr Buick 72), I talked with ya briefly near your skylark (with the owners manual and all the rest of the literature from the car, pretty neat), but man your skylark kicks butt! I didn't know that it could look so hansome without the trim around the wheel well or that a 350 2 barrel could be that gutsy (I know mine sure wasn't :boring: )!!

Rob (Gold Boattail 455), when you get your license you've gotta bring the Rivvy up! Its was nice to see someone else there under 21 (I didn't feel so left out w/o a beer in my hand lol). You seem to have some pretty cool friends, as they came to pick you up (I have a few friends that might of but it wouldn't have been cheap)!

Jim W, It was really cool meeting you, when I'm ready for a built 455 and need someone to dump it in the Apollo, I'll be sure to call ya!! Until then I'll just keep making excuses as to why I haven't already!

And finally Bruce and Shirley (68LESABRE4DOOR), you guys are great and gracious hosts (not to mention your beautiful '68 LeSabre)
and I hope the next time you guys have a party you won't invite the mosquitos  . I think its just that they have a thing for me or somethin! It was very, very cool with the people, burnouts, cars, and the food, (ooh forgot humor, there was a lot of that especially after most of the people at the party had a few beers in them  ) so cool that it should be a crime if you don't have another one!

Sorry that was so long I just wanted to make sure to include everyone I can think of thats on this board atleast (which I'm sure I didn't). Well its nappy time for me I'm startin to feel drowsy.

Having dreams of chrome, fast buicks, convertibles, and burnouts, or that recurring one where I drive a slow beat up Caprice Classic,
    Patrick

Bruce & Shirl, thanks again for hosting this wonderful party. :beer We had a great time. Thankfully we had to leave before I drank too many beers and started talking like a sailor. :error: I could tell Lee was having fun when he tried to pry the privy door open on me and shook it up so I got all flustered. I thought he was holding the door shut so I came bursting out like a lunatic. I'll keep that as my most embarassing first impression to the group. :Dou:

Beautiful cars + wonderful people + beautiful weather = heaven in Wisconsin. Neil says "Hi" to Liam and "thanks for letting me drive your truck dude." He had a lot of fun trying to impress all those pretty young ladies too. Beth I'll keep working on Lee and maybe we'll line up in Salem yet.

Sorry about your ticket Adam, I hope the closing on your new house goes without a hitch in compensation.

It was nice to meet everybody, we are looking forward to the next party already!

Hey meanmotor, have you ever seen a tubben s-10 running around the streets of janesville? I'd imagine you would hear it before you saw it, it's my uncles, its got a 383 stroker with 500hp and 500tq! scariest ride ive ever been in... it looks like this:

ps, bruce and shirl, maybe next summer you could have it a little later in the summer? i'd love to attend, and since we have family in the area, itd be doable if the planning were better on our part
Who knows, maybe next year i'll show up in the lark?

First of all, I want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to Bruce and Shirl for their hospitality and for throwing an excellent Buick party! For those of you who haven't met them, Bruce and Shirl are just great people. They've always made me feel very welcome and like I'm one of the family!
Shirl, you are the consummate hostess-thank you for the care package for the road!
    :TU:
Bruce-Mr. life of the party, thank you for helping me with the car repairs-the car runs much better and I appreciate your attention to detail-you're the best!:beer I promise to have properly oiled hinges from now on!
The new house and property are great- I'm sure you'll both love living there!
Dana & Beth-what can I say? You both are just genuinely nice people. Great to see you again. :)
Adam, you're lucky this laptop won't pull up that picture I asked you not to post!:spank:
Glad that everyone made it home safely-especially those of you who left several inches of your tire tread in the Wisconsin countryside!
    :3gears:
Nice to meet everyone and I'm looking forward to seeing some familiar faces at the next get together. :TU: David
