I have a 69 Skylark Convertible, and a plastic roller on the back window broke when I was rolling it up. Luckily, the window didnt break when it fell off track, but where should I go to get one of those things? Also, how tough is it to get back on? Should I just take it to a glass shop? Eric
I think those things might be had at a glass shop, or should, you may have to go to the oldest shop in town to find though!
Both of my back windows have broken rollers on them. I broke the drivers side in Salem when I was trying to show Dan how the top opens and closes:spank: I have one NOS roller that I picked up in Flint for a couple bucks. I hope I have one in the attic from that beater Olds I sledged last year. This seems to be a common problem!
i'm suprised someone dosen't repop these... how hard would it be to set up a screw machine for 1" dia delrin?? or nylon composite and crank out about 5000? heck maybe 500 of each kind. what ones would people be intrested in?
A lot of these are being stripped at the threads where they screw into the window... And trying to press a new roller onto the ball is a major PITA...better to find a complete roller/stud setup than t otry to piece them together.
try www.el-chevelle.com i was there about a month ago. he has 2 '69 skylark convertibles he is parting. he is near Springfield, Mo.
Check out http://somaca.com . They are a leading producer of aftermarket auto glass parts. I would think they would repro one.
I just R&R'ed my drivers power window and needed one too.....I went to the local auto glass house with the glass and the owner dug around in his 30 yr old "Parts bin" aka.....junk drawer and found one for me - and even used his spanning tool to remove and install it for me all for free !!
window roller Is this the one you need? If so PM or e mail me your address and I'll get it to ya. My email is cadlights@aol.com Keith.
GM still sells a bunch of these type of rollers...the one I bought was the white one with the groove in the middle for the rear quarter glass. I can get the p/n if thats the one you need... Later tim
New repro rollers are available from National Parts Depot www.nationalpartsdepot.com Get a Chevelle catalog or see the rollers on line. Page 101, 69-72 door window models $9.95 Page 102, 68-72 quarter window $6.56 Good idea to get a catalog from them since many A-body models share the same parts and "usually" the Chevelle items are cheaper than Buick items.
